Different conduct towards boys and girls

Girls are treated differently from boys. They are, even when many talk about equality.

By now, it would be guessed that I am a girl. Correct, I am a girl and already feel so much injustice around me.

Let's begin it right from birth. It's really sad to see how faces of people fall, when they hear a girl is born in their family; sad to see that she was not the news they were expecting. Honestly, I don't know if this happens everywhere, but it mostly happens where I live. And the most heart-ripping thing I have to see is that women (elder ladies in the house) also grieve about welcoming a girl child in the family. Whereas if a boy is born, everyone is happy. People proudly tell of his birth to their relatives and neighbours.

Luckily, I didn't have to realise this when I was born and even till my sixth standard in school. Things changed, when I entered my teen years. It started to feel that boys were more at liberty to roam around whereas girls were expected to be at home. And when it comes about partying out in nightclub, people have different mentality about girls and boys. 'Boys who go out to nightclubs live their life, enjoy it. Arey, It happens that they also have drinks. Very common. You know how boys are' is the view on boys. On the contrary, for a girl, it is shameful to hear that same set of people call her bad names, because she too, wants to enjoy her life, make friends. The perspective on such girls is mostly like 'Girls who go out to nightclubs are bad and out of control. They have no shame about dancing with boys or taking drinks. Pity on their parents.'

Same applies to making a boyfriend/girlfriend. If a boy makes a girlfriend, it's okay. Not a great deal. Ofcourse, they are bound to fall for a charming girl. The girl must have trapped him (Like he didn't have a mind of his own).

There are so many things I could talk about, but cannot cover them all here( and some other because they are critical). From seen as liability to compelled to listen to other's decisions, I have seen lot of differences. But it would be unfair to conclude without the glimmering hope, I have for future. I know the world is changing fast, especially towards offering true equality to women/girls, and so on basis of that I hope that the effects of it would be seen in my world soon.
