Samsung has just announced the entry into production of its latest generation of memory chips for the most premium mobiles. The most powerful models of 2020 will hide inside 16 GB of RAM offered by these new components. The high-end phones start to launch with 12 GB of RAM and up to 128 GB of internal storage, but manufacturers are not going to stay there. The weight of increasingly complete applications and operating systems requires an increase in the storage space of the terminals so that they have optimal performance.
At the moment, the 16 GB LPDDR5 RAM memory bases that will integrate phones such as the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra, recently introduced, are being manufactured on a large scale. These chips will allow users to experience enhanced 5G and AI features ranging from games with rich graphics and smart photography.
From Samsung, they explain that the data transfer rate for the 16GB LPDDR5 standard is 5500Mb / s (megabits per second).
Significantly faster speed than the previous generation LPDRR4X RAM package, which reaches a maximum of 4266Mb / s.Another advantage of this new generation involves greater energy savings. Compared to an 8GB LPDDR4X package, the new mobile DRAM Samsung is producing can offer more than 20 per cent energy savings while allowing twice the memory capacity, as is evident.
Samsung's new 16GB LPDDR5 RAM is made up of eight 12GB chips and four 8GB chips while using next-generation 10nm technology. It will not be the only model that is manufactured, by mid-year, Samsung prepares to send another version of this chip to production that would reach 6,400Mb / s of data transfer speeds.
As we said at the beginning, the brand's most powerful mobiles will be the first to receive this memory. The Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra has already been presented with this quality along with the other models of this new family that will equip the 12 GB LPDDR5 memories. Most likely, this summer we will also see it integrated into the team of the next Galaxy Note 20. Do not forget that this same amount of memory can be found in ultrabook premium laptops, so the phones begin to reach the performance of our computers.
