Running And Breast Health: Few Facts That You Might Not Know

Running is the best exercise to get fit and healthy. A lot of women go for a run daily to keep their bodies in shape but the biggest challenge that women face with running is their breasts. Irrespective of the size, they do make running a difficult task. They move up and down, left and right inconsiderately making you feel uneasy at times. Here are some interesting facts about running and breasts that most of you probably are unaware of.

1. They move more than you do feel

Do you know that your breasts move in the shape of 8? While you feel them going up and down, their movement isn't restricted to these directions only. They move forward, backward as well as sideways. This is so because breasts don't have muscles but they are just a mass of tissues.

2. Your body doesn't support your breasts

While running, your breasts don't get enough support from your body. During physical activities, they do move inconsiderately and get shaken up a lot due to their soft structure.

3. Your breasts do shrink if you run regularly

Since breasts are fat fibrous tissues, running makes them shrink. As exercising reduces overall body fat, it does reduce the fat of your breasts too. This is why the size of breasts reduce when running regularly. However, this doesn't mean that running would affect only your breasts but it would reduce fat from the entire body.

4. A good sports bra is a necessity

A good supporting bra isn't a choice but it is necessary for your breast health. As we have told you earlier that breasts move uncontrollably in all possible directions, it is important to provide them with the needful support. Running without a good and well-fitting sports bra is not good for your breasts.

5. Never ignore the pain in your breasts

An ill-fitting bra is the prime cause of breast pain during or after running. A lot of women complain about paining breasts after a long run. However, this pain could also be due to your menstrual cycle but not every time. Minor pain is okay but if the pain gets unbearable, it requires you to take care of your breasts. You may even stop running for a while and opt for some workout which is less harsh on your breasts and doesn't make them move much.

6. Runners are found to be safe from breast cancer

It is believed that the prevention of breast cancer is strongly related to running and staying physically active. For breast cancer survival, running is far better than just walking.

7. Your breasts may lower down your spirit of running

A lot of women avoid running just because of their heavy breasts. They do feel shy to make their breasts run along with you. It not only causes discomfort but you may even feel embarrassed when they move along.
