Reservation in India has its roots in the ancient caste System which was man-made for some to benefit and many to be deprived of.
Our constitution suggested certain temporary measures to help the deprived section of the society to come up in life at par with the rest. It was a genuine attempt by the Constitution to allow diverse people of our society to live together as citizens of India. In the Constitution, it was clearly mentioned that these provisions should be continues for only a certain period of time.
Our constitution is based on the idea of quality and justice in the social and political fields.It does not support any discrimination either against or in favor of any class of a person on the grounds of religion, race or place of birth.
In fact many Regional political outfits have come up and flourished based on the Caste Politics which has exploited people for their own selfish motive and ambition.
Deserving Merit Students despite scoring high % age are deprived of their seats to the reservation quota which is very unfair.
With the new Economically Weaker section(EWS) Quota OF 10%, the overall reservation quota has gone up to 59.50% which leaves with only 40.50% in the open category.
Do all people eligible basis the reserved quota really deserve the seats on a platter when they are economically and socially well off. Governments have come and gone but no one has dared challenge it. In fact they have tried to increase it for their own benefit.
I personally feel that the reserved quota system in India should be completely abolished. All the students should get admission in any institute purely on the basis of Merit only. For those who are affected economically, the government should provide them heavy subsidy on their admission and course fees. The government should put a yardstick on those who qualify in the economically weaker section.The government should gather the proper scrutinized information with Aadhar and Pancard linked with all the available bank account details and assets owned by the complete family members. In case the documents turn out to be fake, cancel the admission and invoke a heavy penalty so that it becomes a deterrent for the rest to even think of doing the same.
