Intelligence Is not contagious! Yes, its mostly based in our genes. But it can be acquired depending on how we train ourselves and our surroundings. So to prove your worth among a whole lot of people you must be intelligent enough. And in this era,proving that you are intelligent enough is no less than contesting in the elections.

So here are some hacks on how you can become smarter in this IQ obsessed world:

1. Your Artistic Brain: Your brain is divided into two hemispheres. The right brain also known as the artistic brain takes account of images, rhythm, colour and all sorts of artistic abilities. So try drawing, painting, singing, playing an instrument or just laying down and daydreaming to get the artistic brain all charged up. It doesn’t matter if you’re tone deaf or a horrible painter, you’re brain will improve with every time you try.

2. Your Scientific Brain: The left brain also called the scientific brain processes the numbers, language, logic and all the analytical abilities. No matter how much you dread maths, try doing simple mathematics or try learning a new language or just a new word each day.

3.Yoga: Yogasanas especially the shoulder stand, seated forward bend, downward dog and the plow and lotus poses not only de-stress and relax the body but also promotes oxygen delivery to the brain. It thus helps to increase concentration, focus and memory while wading off anxiety.

4. Exercise: A Runner’s High early in the morning, releasing all those endorphins not only does good to your blood sugar levels but also helps your brain function and cognition. Being the biggest stress buster there is, exercise improves mood and promotes objectivity.

5.Eat The Brain Food: Omega-3 rich foods (like walnuts or fatty fish like salmon and sardines) is essential for building brain and nerve cells. It also slows down aging and help ward off diseases of the brain while helping with memory and cognition. Antioxidants (present in various fruits as well as green tea) fight against oxidative stress and inflammation and neurodegenerative diseases. Micronutrients like zinc, magnesium, copper, iron also prevent from neurological diseases. Coffee and chocolate act as stimulants and increase alertness.

6. Positive Thinking: Positive thoughts and energies flowing around you, allow space for pro-activity and productivity. Always strive for a clear and stable mindset even if situations seem pretty downhill. Positive Thinking helps fight off free radicals in the body which have direct influence on the mind.

7. Play Games: Games promote logic while strengthening thinking abilities. Arcade and Strategy games like Chess, Sudoku, Brain Teaser, Crossword, Jigsaw Puzzles will be apt for a brain-taxing exercise.

8. Improve Spatial Skills: Try to ascertain the visual difference in two identical objects placed at different distances. Bring one of it closer to your eyes until it becomes blurry while the other can be seen perfectly clear.

9. Try Brain Workouts: Squares and triangles, Odd one out, Shapes and all sorts of visual or audio workouts are available online, you can try them out for free. It will train you to recognise and form patterns.

10.Increase Your Speed: To increase your speed you can try speed reading or speed writing. Speed-reading or just skimming very fast through an article so as you understand the gist of it. Don’t focus too much on a single word, instead take in 3 or more words at a time.

11. Take The Mensa Test: Mensa, the high IQ society offers the Mensa Workout on www.mensa.org. Only people IQ range in the top 2% of the world population can join Mensa. Take the workout and find out whether you lie in this range.

12. Adequate Sleep: Apart from relaxing the body, an adequate amount of sleep can also help with better retention and recall. Its helps you stay alert for a longer time than when you are crash napping.
