NOISE IN THE ENVIRONMENT

The main sources of noise pollution in Pakistan are transportation, construction sites, careless use of electronic appliances and loud speech patterns. Noise coming from different modes of transport is one of the big causes. The increasing number of vehicular traffic and unwarrented honking by drivers has exposed people to permanent noise pollution. The transport and work at construction sites, its sharp sound also increases the noise level. Mobile phones, electricity generators, Music system and T.V. all have become pollutants. Listening to loud music or T.V. on a loud volume adds up to noise pollution. Noise pollution has negative impacts on human health. It is a biological stressor and causes aggression, hypertension, hearing loss, depression and insomnia. It seriously affects on the hearing and concentration of the students. 

To overcome this issue the government should take positive steps. It should ensure the smooth traffic flow and use noise barriers where necessary. The residential societies should frame rules and enforce them to check noise producing agent. And above all, the people should develop civic sense and responsible attitude to avoid noise pollution.

Noise pollution is defined as any form of noise that disrupts the normal functioning of life. The increasing number of vehicular traffic on the road unwarrented honking by the drivers are a big source of noise pollution. The other means of transportation like airplanes and trains are also contributers in noise pollution. The transport and equipment used at construction sites, its grilling and piercing sound is a big source of noise pollution.

Mobile phones, electricity generators, Music systems and T.V all have become technology based irritants and their unmonitored use cause noise pollutions. Noise is a biological stressor and has a negative impact on human health. It causes aggression, hypertension, high stress levels, hearing loss, restlessness, depression and insomnia.

Listening to loud music or watching T.V on a loud volume should be strictly prohibited. Excessive use of electricity generators and loud speakers in residential areas should frame rules in this regard and strictly enforce them to reduce noise pollution.
