I love all my plants, and I do know that they have a life like us. I'm not a science student but still, I'm very excited about each and every plant and wanna know more from childhood. My father and I used to do gardening in our home and we do have many plants in our gardens like flower plants and some of them are fruit plants and finally my Touch-Me-Not plant.
My father always says about the positivity of the plants and we all know that green and bright colors are good to our eye Vision, he always wants us to see those green plants daily for a few minutes. As a nature lover, I always care about and think do they recognize me (or) they will think of me as I do when I wasn't with them. I'm always curious to know this!!
And in this article, I'm gonna share my story with Touch-Me-Not plant, like when I saw it first and what makes it so special to me, so read this complete article to know more amazing and wonderful facts of this plant.
Touch-Me-Not Plant:
Touch-Me-Not plant (or) it's scientific name is Mimosa Pudica belongs to the Fabaceae family. It is is also known with a variety of names like Shy plant, Sensitive plant, Sleepy plant, and Action plant and many more. It has compound leaves that move inwards and drop down when touched or shaken or even when you blow some air, It's because of the temperature change and they do this to defend themselves from any harm, and re-opens a few minutes later. This species is native to South and Central America. But it is now pantropical weed and can be found in Southern United States, South Asia, East Asia, and South Africa as well.
Mimosa Pudica is also known for its rapid plant movement. Like a number of other plant species, it undergoes changes in leaf orientations termed as "sleep" (or) "nyctinastic movement" it is actually a chemical reaction that happened in leaves when touched by fingers. Its stem is erect in young plants, but becomes creeping and trailing with age, and it grows up to 1 meter ( 5 feet) tall.
My story with Touch-Me-Not plant:
As you already read that I'm a nature lover (or), plant lover, I always wanna explore new plants and wanna know more exciting and interesting facts and their names and all, so what happened is I went with my family for some paperwork to an office and while exploring other things I saw touch-me-not plant and that time maybe I don't know about that plant, so I was so excited and happy and surprised at the same time to see the actions or respond when touched. It was small and it also had light purple flowers. My curiosity increases day by day about that plant, I came home but my mind was there.
Hardly, I saw that plant twice or thrice till my masters. And when I joined a University for Masters, there is a huge garden and usually, I was exploring the garden and suddenly I saw touch me not plant there. there are only three touch-me-not plants and that time only thought that I will take one to my home. And my excitement is at the peak at that time and I sent pictures of those plants to my family because I was in the hostel. And my friends were so shocked to see me like that...LOL.
I used to visit those plants in my free time and water them with my water bottle. And that was our last day in University means last exam and I already bought a cup from home to take one plant. Finally, after lunch, I said to my friends that I wanna take one Touch-Me-Not plant, and we went there and safely transfer one Touch-Me-Not plant with soil in the cup. And we both traveled by bus to home. I love the way he closes his leaves, and many peoples say that it will feel shy when someone touched and sensitive too. I'm also a kinda shy person and sensitive too, so I feel like we both are the same and I was affectionate to that plant from starting. I really can't explain the exact relationship between us. Despite it is a plant. but I do talk to him and treat him like a brother or sometimes friend. I know its kinda funny for some peoples but I really love my Touch-me (nickname).
And guys, this is not a normal plant or just fun to touch. This is a mysterious plant for scientists because it is abundant in so many nutrients and filled with lots of health.
