My Childhood

I spent my early years immersed in the love of my parents.

As the firstborn, I was cherished, and my siblings fondly called me Lala.Even today, my younger siblings continue to use that endearing term. My primary education, obtained from a nearby school, holds some of the fondest memories. The days when we presented our handwriting exercises to Teacher Ji and took breaks for a refreshing drink remain etched in my mind.

One or two o'clock meant the start of our adventurous runs back home, where we would either enjoy a hearty meal or rush to the cricket ground for an evening game. Those carefree days of innocence hold a special place in my heart.

My Youth

Upon reaching matriculation, the eagerness for employment took root, but societal influences began to shape my decisions. A friend suggested trying my luck in Rawalpindi, emphasizing the ease of finding a job there. My interest in work intensified, envisioning myself returning home adorned in white attire, with a briefcase in hand and gifts for my family and school friends.

Little did I know that earning money wasn't as straightforward. The realization hit me when I first left home for Karachi, driven by the notion that Karachi offered better opportunities. The city indeed opened doors, but the struggles of part-time work were prominent. Karachi, with its bustling nights and constant work, presented a stark contrast to other cities.

Eventually, I returned home after a considerable stint in Karachi, bringing with me some work experiences, memories, and the realization that earning a livelihood requires hard work. This lesson hit harder during my first escape to Karachi, where the city's dynamics were vastly different from smaller towns.

Life's Challenges

My journey continued as I delved into various professions - from a newspaper reporter to a real estate agent and even a hotel employee. Each job, done in an ethical manner, contributed to my growth. Amidst these experiences, my return home was prompted by the passing of my father, forcing me to face the grief I had chosen to escape.

The struggles culminated in a decision to become a journalist, leading me from local to international platforms. Serving as the Bureau Chief for Focus News and later working with prominent newspapers, including Pakistan, allowed me to touch both local and global journalism. I also took on the role of a media coordinator for a significant political and social organization.

Life's Lessons

Through these diverse experiences, I continued to embrace the learning process, a journey that persists to this day. My path led me from local to international journalism, showcasing the ever-evolving landscape of media and society.

This intricate journey has molded me into who I am today, teaching me the importance of hard work, resilience, and the pursuit of knowledge. As I reflect on the 55 years of my life, I am grateful for the opportunities, challenges, and lessons that have shaped my story.
