My first Article

Ok. So here I’m writing an article for this website. It took a lot of time to think what should be written. I explored through some articles and also my friend suggested some topics, but none of them worked for me. I was blank after writing few lines. After thinking for a while, I decided to write about what I really love. Movies. There are things I really want to talk about. I have read and watched so many things about movies that I really want to share. But I’m not saying that I have become and expert or have a great knowledge. I’m still learning and I just want to explore more and share what I have learnt so far. So this one is my first article ever. If you like it then please share and show some love. A little act of kindness will be great. If you didn’t like it then I open for healthy criticism. There are lot of movies which I want to talk about. But one of the films that’s stuck with me is film Sholay. Here is my personal take on the film.

Sholay is considered as a cult classic and we have enjoyed watching the film when we were young. I just loved how the film was made, the scenes, the dialogues, and the songs. Everything was just perfect. But as I grew older (and wiser), I realized it's just another bollywood masala movie which had the perfect ingredients to engage the audience. Though there are many people who have reviewed the film as a rip off of many hollywood movies, the problematic scenes in the film are not much talked about by many of them or either neglected. For e.g. the scene where Veeru teaches Basanti how to shoot with a gun but actually he is trying to “flirt” (that's what is said about his character bio).In another scene Veeru trying to commit suicide by standing on water tank just to woo Basanti were kept for laughs. Even today, these scenes are celebrated .In one of the songs “Koi Hasseena jab rotth jati hai” the lyrics of the song says it all.

There are good things in films like I said the dialouges, the background music but we can't ignore problematic scenes that the film had. We celebrate the film every year, and also call it as a cult classic or evergreen but we can't deny that all classic films are not always good. If someone watches this film 15 or 20 years after the release of the film he would have found it silly as my friend had said when he watched the film for the first time (2015 or 2016 I guess). He was from south and had heard all the good things about the film, and was desperate to see it. After watching the film he said only one thing “Kya chal raha tha film mein”. He also laughed while talking about the climax scene where Thakur and Gabbar are fighting.

As I reasearched more on the film, I found some articles namely “18 interesting facts about Sholay” or “Facts that will compel you to watch film” talking about all the “nice” things because of which the film has become the cult classic but very few talked about the problematic things about the film is ever talked or written. The defintion of classic film or evergreen film is very different. Sholay doesn't fit in that spectrum. As I said before Sholay is just another bollywood masala movie or in other words amplified version of a masala movie with all the dialouges, action and music briliantly packaged together and sealed with the and Bollywood action film tag.

end about even today.
