Anil Swarup is an Indian creator and retired Indian Administrative Service officer of Uttar Pradesh framework and 1981 cluster. Swarup in his 38 years of profession has served in different limits and later proceeded to become the Secretary to the Government of India.
Early life and Education -
Anil Swarup was conceived on 01 July 1958 in Allahabad in the Indian territory of Uttar Pradesh. He is a post graduate in Political Science from the University of Allahabad in 1978, where he was granted Chancellor's gold decoration for being the "best all-round understudy".
Vocation -
Prior to joining IAS, he functioned as an Indian Police Service officer for one year. Swarup joined IAS in 1981 and is the beneficiary of Director's gold decoration for "best official student" of his cluster at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration(LBSNAA). Anil Swarup’s future was decided the day he was born. “My father had fulfilled his father’s dream of becoming an engineer and I had to fulfil his dream of me becoming an IAS officer,”
He has served in different key situations for both the Union Government and the Government of Uttar Pradesh, as Education Secretary of India, Coal Secretary of India, Additional Secretary in the Cabinet Secretariat of India, Additional Secretary of Labor and Empowerment, Export Commissioner in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry of India and as the District Magistrate of Lakhimpur Kheri during theBabri Masjid-Ram Janmabhoomi agitationunder then boss ministership of Kalyan Singh.
He says, “I used to come down heavily on mischief-makers. I had once put behind bars the district president of a ruling party. When the then BJP chief minister [Kalyan Singh] wanted to know the reason, I gave it and there were no questions asked.”
As Coal Secretary -
He became Secretary in the coal service after the coal scam in which the Supreme Court of India cancelled in excess of 200 squares dispensed since 1993. Swarup directed coal barters in a straightforward way, which was an immense achievement.
