Manjummel Boys inches closer to Rs 200 cr mark globally, becomes first top non-Tamil movie, without dubbed version, to gross Rs 50 cr in Tamil Nadu

Expectations are high that Manjummel Boys would become the first Malayalam film to ever gross Rs 200 crore worldwide, since the movie broke 2018's record in just 21 days.

After bringing in over Rs 139 crore in 2016, the Mohanlal-starring film Pulimurugan, directed by Vysakh, held the record for seven years. However, Jude Anthany Joseph's 2018 film Everyone is a Hero broke that record by earning Rs 175 crore worldwide. But the record for 2018 was short-lived, as Manjummel Boys, a survival genre movie directed by Chidambaram, just overtook it to take the top spot. Manjummel Boys is expected to become the first Malayalam film to gross Rs 200 crore globally, marking another milestone, after zooming past the Rs 176 crore barrier in just 21 days.

Manjummel Boys reportedly topped 2018's total revenue of Rs 175.6 crore on Friday, surpassing Pulimurugan's collection of Rs 139.5 crore in just 17 days, according to Cue Studio. According to sources, Manjummel Boys' earnings as of Sunday midday had reportedly surpassed Rs 180 crore. "Manjummel Boys Worldwide Gross Collection till now — 180 Crore+ 🔥🎥🔥 All-time blockbuster 🔥🎥🔥," industry tracker AB George posted on X (previously Twitter). However, industry insider Ramesh Bala recently declared that Manjummel Boys had made history as the first non-Tamil Indian film to break the Rs 50 crore gross mark in Tamil Nadu without having a Tamil dubbed version.

The movie, which debuted on February 22, made an India nett collection of Rs 3.85 crore on Saturday, its 24th day in theatres, according to industry tracker Sacnilk. Even after three weeks of release, the movie is still doing well at the weekend box office.

In the Malayalam market on Saturday, the movie had an overall occupancy rate of 38.57 percent. Although occupancy for the morning concerts was just 25.38 percent, this percentage increased during the day to 34.56 percent in the afternoon, 44.30 percent in the evening shows, and 50.02 percent in the night shows.
