iPhone 8 Plus in 2020 - Should You Still Buy It?

hi everyone aaron here for Zollotech andthe iphone 8 plus is the last large phone to utilize touch id andmany people have been asking me lately should you still pick one up in 2020and so i wanted to talk about whether or not you should pick one of these upwhether or not it's right for you and see how it performs as far as itscamera forward facing camera compared to saythe iphone 11 pro max so the first thing is the size of thephone is basically the same as the 11 pro max if i put them side by sidelet me remove this apple case it's just the simple apple leather case i'll linkit in the description but it's something i've used to protect thephone for some time and you'll see it's held up really well but its sizeoverall is basically the same as the 11 pro max soif you want a large phone that's the same as say the 6splus the 7 plus and now the 8 plus or the iphone 6any of them are basically the same size but this one feels a little bit moresubstantial because it's got glass on the backand the front and the back on the glass is used for wireless chargingand just makes it feel very premium if you're not using a case on itand the design is very familiar of course if you've used an iphone for anynumber of years it's the exact same thing you've got your silent switch onthe side here you've got your volume buttons and then on the other sideyou've got your power sleep wake button and your sim card traythe iphone 8 plus gives you that stereo sound speaker up top and on the bottomit uses the ever familiar lightning port and sothis phone feels very familiar if you're coming from an older phone now if you'vegot a phone with face id of course touch id is a littlebit of a step back but the design is classic it's durableit's proven and this one feels very very sturdy and very well made it's a littlebit of water resistant as well so if you drop it in the water it shouldn't be toomuch of an issue but in general it's just a great phonenow the thing is is people want to know if they should pickthese up because apple doesn't sell these new anymore they either sell themrefurbished on their website starting at around 379 dollars with 64gigabytes of storage and you can get a 256 gigabyte variantfor about 509

refurbished from apple now that puts it in line with the neweriphone se and gives you a larger screen somebetter specs and some more specs and so this particular phone from appleis that cost you may be able to find it elsewheremuch cheaper so it just depends where you're looking but what you do get isthis really nice 5.5 inch 1080p display with401 pixels per inch it's got great viewing angles it goesnice and bright and you can see everything in thedaylight and it's really one of the best displays that apple has ever madeyou can watch 1080p youtube videos in true 1080pso it's not scaled or anything it's actually1920x1080 so you can see the full display and the full quality andresolution this display also gives you true tone although you may not want touse that it's turned off right now but if you do want to use that you canand you still have 3d touch it has a pressure sensitive display soif you want to turn true tone on make the whites look more like paper youcan do that and you've got true 3d touch so things are nice andfast when you press down on them so you've got that built into this

displayand you've got all of that and basically the best refined versionof the iphone with touch id now touch id on this is super fastit unlocks nice and fast like you'd expect now as far as its durability it'sheld up really well i have had a case on it at times i diduse this for quite some time about six months on and offand it's really held up well i don't have any dings or really any scratchesthat you can see either and i don't use a case on this when i'm using it as mymain device doesn't have any scratches on the screenit's really held up very well so in general it's one of thebest phones they've ever made this way but as far as its speed well it feelsbasically the same as anything else today it's super fast andresponsive so if you go into settings and scroll you'll have that nicesmooth scrolling of course no apple display at this point has anything otherthan 60 hertz so it's nice and smooth but it doesn'tcompare to say some android phones that waybut it feels very fast and that's thanks to apple'sown cpu architecture the a11 bionic and this one has three gigabytes of ram sonever does it really feel slow or anything like thatit's nice and fast and allows you to open apps fastswitch between them quickly and you shouldn't have any issues there and alsoit should get updates for at least three more years so maybe ios 16 ios 17 anddepending on what apple does in the future it could go even longer than thatso you'll get

guaranteed updates security updates probably even pastnew updates so it's great to have that ability you'll be able to use all ofyour lightning cables and everything else and the cameras are quite good onthe back you've got two cameras you've got a regular and a telephoto zoom lens12 megapixels and you can record in 4k 60. on thefront it's not as good as what we have todaywe have only have a 7 megapixel forward-facing camerawith 1080p recording and so let me show you the forward-facing camera and aquick comparison between this and the 11 pro max's forward-facingcamera the forward-facing camera on the 8-plusisn't as good as say the 11 pro max for example but it's quite goodso for those of you that still want to vlog as long as it's 1080p it's fine onan 8 plus but you won't get the 4k that you do onan 11 pro max for example or an 11 pro so here's the 11 pro max with the 8 plusside by side and you can see the difference now so if1080p is good enough for you you can see that the 8 plus does look alittle bit blown out on the background so if that's important to you thenyou may want to look for the better phone with the 11 seriesnow with the rear facing camera you've got up to 4k 60. now you can't change the resolution or frame rates by tapping on this little button here like you can on the newer phones for some reason, but you do have the options if you go into your settings and then your video settings for your camera you'll see up to 4k 60. so you've got all of those different options and let's take a look at the video and some of the images from this so foreign the cameras for the iPhone 8 plus are quite good they're not as good as what we get with the 11 pro and the 11 Promax, but they're good enough for most people especially if 1080p is good enough for you when it comes to

the forward-facing camera now as far as battery well battery seems to hold up well this phone is quite old at this point this was bought the day it came out so let's take a look at the battery it has not been in constant use, but the battery as far as battery health is concerned is ninety-seven percent after two years eighty percent is normal, and you can expect about six to eight hours of screen on time depending on how you're using your device if you're a heavy gamer it's going to be a little bit slower if you're just using it for web browsing and

occasionally watching a video then it's going to give you a little bit better battery life, but battery life overall is going to get you through the day without a problem and then you can come home and plug it in and charge it, or you can put it on a wireless charger using the back, so it's got all of those options basically all of the advantages of the newest phone without face id and abetter forward-facing camera you also don't get a wide-angle zoom lens on the back but when it comes to the CPU really don't think you'll miss anything newer than this they're about the same when doing most tasks unless it has to do with the camera and using augmented reality and the neural engine everything else is good the speakers are quite good, and it's just held up really well and so should you buy an eight plus in 2020 I would say absolutely if you're looking at an iPhone se or an eight plus for the same price and you want a larger phone get the eight plus you'll have a

better display the cameras are about the same and you'll have all of the modern features but if you're finding one that much more expensive then I would skip it but if you can find one for 500or less with good storage and in good shape or brand new would absolutely pick one up if you can find one for that but let me know what phone you're using if you're using an eight-plus if you're thinking of getting one let me know in the comments below if you'd like to get your hands on this wallpaper, of course, I'll link it in the description like I normally do, and if you haven't subscribed already please subscribe and if you enjoyed the video, please give it alike as always thanks for watching this is Aaron I'll see you next time you
