However, both Windows and macOS laptops come with their own set of ways or commands to capture a screenshot. Given below is a compiled list of different ways to take a screenshot on a laptop. Here’s how to take a screenshot on a Windows 7/10 laptop Both Windows 10 and Windows 7 come with a dedicated application called ‘Snipping Tool’ to capture any screenshot. This app takes a screenshot and saves it as an image file on your device. Take a screenshot using a Snipping Tool Step 1: Search for the Snipping Tool in the Windows search box, and open it. Step 2: Click on the tap ‘New’ to capture a screenshot. Step 3: Now, move the cross air from where you want to start the screenshot, then drag to select an area. Step 4: Next, click the ‘Save Snip’ icon to save the screenshot. Take a screenshot using shortcut keys: The simplest way to capture a screenshot is to press the Windows Key and the ‘PrtScn’ (PrintScreen) button together. It is usually located in the top row near the function keys. A save box will appear. Save the image wherever you want to, giving a file name to the image. Then press the tab ‘Save’ Capture screenshots using Alt+PrtScn Similar to the method mentioned above, this option copies the active window; the screen on which you’re working. Here’s how to take a screenshot on macOS laptops macOS laptops also have a variety of options to take a screenshot. The easiest way to take a screenshot on a macOS laptop is to simply press Command+Shift+3. Pressing these three keys together will capture a still of the entire screen. Command+Shift+4 is an advanced command that lets you capture a specific portion of the screen. By invoking the keys, Command+Shift+5, you can easily capture a screenshot on macOS laptops. This option gives you a free hand over the screenshot. You can simply press the ‘enter’ key or select the option, ‘Capture selected portion’ from the small panel below. Similarly, Command+Shift+6.
