How to stop iphone battery health from decreasing

Lithium-ion batteries like any other battery wear out over time and have a certain number of charge and discharge cycles after which they start degrading and lose their capacity of power retention. Iphones tell their owners the battery percentage so that the owner has an idea about how much life is remaining of the battery before they have to replace it. Almost every phone's battery wears out over time, even if the mobile phone doesn't tell you that.

So the rule of thumb is that the more you use your iphone or any other phone, your battery health will decrease quickly. So is the solution to this problem just simple stop using your iphone or just turn it off and place it in a drawer? Articles on the internet will tell you to turn off your location settings so that the gps doesn't drain your battery unnecessarily, or turn off the wifi when you're not using it. Some even suggest turning off background app refresh.

While all of these might help you slow down the decrease in battery health slightly, but it is imminent. While most people emphasize on changing your using habits no one seems to mention that your charging habits might be the one that need to be changed.

As a rule of thumb, while charging your iphone or any other phone for that matter or tablet or your laptop, do not charge it over 80 percent. Also, do not let the battery decrease more than 40 percent. How does this help you might ask. The answer is simply that lithium ion batteries do not like to be charged over 80 percent. You might notice your iphone getting heat up and also the rate of charge decreasing when you get it above 80 and try to charge it all the way upto 100 percent.

you are not doing yourself or your iphone any good by doing that. Also letting your battery get lower than 40 percent is also not good. Ideally you should use one charge cycle per day by plugging in your iphone when the battery reaches 40 percent and unplugging it when it gets to 80 percent. However, if you are a heavy user and tend to play games or stream content or simply use it for work then you might need to plug it twice a day. I know it sounds very hectic, but an original charger takes less than 30 mins to charge your iphone from 40 to 80 percent. Same goes for all the other mobiles with fast charging.

Also, i'd like to mention here that do not use your mobile whether it as an iphone or any other mobile while it is charging. The reason for this is that while you are charging your iphone with a fast charger it is already being heat up and if you use it then it adds additional load on the battery and the processor. Wait a few minutes, then your iphone will be ready to be all drained up again. Also, Always the recommended charger to charge your Iphone, using after market chargers is never a good idea.

I hope this article helps you to preserve your iphone's battery health.
