How to start a pet business?

A billion dollars this year 100 billion dollars that's a lot of money's time that you get your share of
it and in this article, I'm going to show you how to start a business what to do when you started
and how to be profitable, and we're starting right
now, so you want to start a pet
the business you're a smart person yeah you are because pet businesses are great as a matter
of fact, my wife has one she does dog training, but we're going to talk a little, a bit more about
products in this particular article I want to walk you through it, but you, and I both know people
spend a lot of money on their pets as a matter of fact the average pet owner spends over
139.73 a month on their pet that's a lot of money, it's time you got your share of it
now the first question you gotta ask yourself is it profitable to start a pet
business check out this Google trends chart right here, this is pretty amazing according
to the American pet product's association, in 2020 alone US pet owners spent 103.6 billion
dollars on their companions, with just under one half of that being sold on food treats and other
services it’s clear there's a market in interest in pet stores but are they stand, well it would
only stands to reason if that many people are spending that much money that there's profit in it
but let's look at some ways you can make money in a pet business, the first one is pet
sitting now I had never used a pet sitter until we moved out to California, and this is going back
to 2013 and we were traveling some, and we needed somebody to come to take care of our pets
we didn't want to put them in a kennel, and we didn't want you to know our pets to be checked on
sometimes, occasionally, sporadically, now and then we wanted somebody to stay there with our pets, so we found a lady and
she had about 10 or 12 people that actually worked for her that would come stay in a home
and take care of her pet so that's what we did fast-forward eight years later uh to 2021 we were
still using her before we moved out to Texas, and she had over 200 employees 200, and it wasn't
cheap either they were charging right around 150 a
day to come hang out at the house with our pet now to you 150 a day may not seem like a lot of money
but multiply that times 200 employees, that's a lot of money and that's just one type of business
and that's just pet sitting can also be somebody who just comes in and walks the dog
or somebody who goes in and cleans the litter boxes and feeds the cats, so they're only there 10
or 15 minutes there can be a lot of ways that you can do this pet sitting and make a lot of money
the next area is pet food people have really gotten tuned in to the fact that
dogs and cats need healthy food this kibble that they've been eating for years is not good
for them so in this particular area you want to niche down I was at a farmer's market the other
day and there were five booths out of probably 50 that were pet food they were all pet food
related natural foods work really well things that aren't processed things that are handled
in a different manner without the chemicals and preservatives and all that are extremely popular
right now, so getting into pet food is a great idea does your dog wear underwear does your what
clothing on a dog yes clothing on a dog I know my wife has several sweaters and jackets for our dog
people are starting to dress their dogs are putting on clothes cats do not so much
but dogs yes if you want to start a pet business a pet clothing business is amazing and there's a lot
of parental demand companies that will actually make the product print whatever you want on it
and ship it out you can actually personalize these for the particular dog these sell like
crazy get into pet clothes it works the next up is doggy daycare I have a friend
in Tennessee and his dog goes to doggy daycare every single day they take him five days a week
goes to doggy daycare and hangs out with the other dogs and has a wonderful time I would assume
this is just the opposite of pet sitting where you go into somebody's house this is where they come
drop off their pet to you, and you take care of it this is a huge industry, there's a huge demand for
it and that's another way you could make money in the pet industry does your dog exercise he does
she does yes dog walking, that's another way to get into the pet industry dog walkers
are huge now too, they go into people's homes take the dogs out exercise them and
they get exercise too, it's a great way to start your business and, you don't have to do
it's all yourself you can hire more dog walkers to actually work for you, a lot of people just don't
want to start their own business they just want to get paid for doing an
activity dog walking
is a great business are you good at cutting hair what about dog grooming doesn't take
that many supplies, maybe someplace to bathe them and a table and some scissors and trimmers and
you're off to the races you can start a dog grooming business this doesn't take any special
skills or anything like that of course you want to check with licensing for your area however dog
grooming is a very large business, and it's growing every single day people are giving more and more
care to their pets now than they ever have before dog training yes dog training this is very close
and dear to my heart why because my wife does dog training she actually well she probably more
people train than she-dog trains
on YouTube, so you'll want to check that out but dog training is a huge business a lot of
people don't know, how to get their dog to be potty-trained or how to make that dog walk on a leash or
any number of different things that a dog should do, but they don't know how to do it, so they need
you and, you can get the training from somebody like my wife okay take one of her courses and
when you take one of her courses you'll know how to do it you can start your own business now a few
things I've given you a lot of ideas of ways you can make money in a pet business, but number one do
your research okay know what's out there know what the demand is known what other people are charging
know who your competitors are, I would say research is the number one thing you can do
if you want to be successful and then number two is to build your brand let people know who you are
brand your business okay I own survival k food and that is a brand new that's a Google search brand
um, when you brand yourself like that you can sell other products we could sell courses we could sell
you know tools, and we've done all these things you could sell other products that surround your brand
because they already trust your brand, so you want to build your brand protect it to take care of your
customers and have a good reputation, then you want to come up with a name that's going to work
the lady we used in California I told you about was dogs on the run, which was a great company and
you can check her out she's online, but you can use a name generator matter of fact Shopify has
a name generator so you can put some ideas in there, and it will come up with names for you
so that's something you want to do is make sure you generate a cool name, something that's going
to associate itself with your business, next thing I'm going to tell you to do you're not going to
want to do, but you should do it and that's writing a business plan so many people will go out there and
not have a business plan they just kind of wing it now here's the thing with the business plan,
a lot of people think if I write a business plan I've got to do exactly what it says you don't if
things change you can change your business plan it just gives you a guide to get started you've got
to have some kind of guide to get started if you have that guide to get started then you're going
to be a lot more successful than if you just wing it, the next thing you want to do is build your
online presence now I have a lot of people say well do I need a website um you could possibly
run a business without a website, but why would your websites be incredibly inexpensive to operate
you can get a starting your website, and you just got
to have it because people are going to want to get information about your company and that's the best
way to convey it they go online they put the name of your company in, and they can read about your
company and what you do the services you provide it's just an invaluable thing I mean websites
don't cost that much, a lot of people think oh my gosh your website's gonna cost me a lot of money
it's usually less than ten dollars a month for your services, uh and there are free templates
you could get through WordPress and start a website, that way you also don't want to neglect
social media is also very important um this is going to be Instagram this is going to
so that you can also go there and get some ideas from her, but you
also want to use Facebook, anything out there that can get your name out in front of other people
that's what you want to do, don't get overwhelmed by this doesn't mean that you got to post
three or four times a day on every single social platform, though there is software that will
help you do that too I use Hootsuite and that helps me post on a lot of platforms all at once
The bottom line is to get this stuff set up have a place a reference place a website where people can go to
and get more information, and you're going to end up being more successful and the last thing I'm
going to tell you was the thing I didn't do in the beginning and that's building an email list
guys an email list is so very important, I'm going to put a link below to Kara where you can use

the credit card you don't have to put in your name or email or anything, just watch the video and watch
what it does if you build an email list, which cartridge will help you do and help you market
your company and help you build sales pages but if you build an email list now you have something
that's valuable I know my email list I can email out to them right now, and I can make money within
30 minutes which is pretty cool I could just send an email and I know I'm going to make money
so as you're going along you want to get all these people who are interested in your business your
products whatever your services, are put them on an email list on a regular basis send them good
information send them an article send them a video send them something that's going to benefit them
if you do that on a regular basis, occasionally now and then you can send them something to buy services
products food whatever it is you're selling, but give them free content on an ongoing basis
so that they get used to getting good information from you and so that they want to open your email
