How to play Rummy game in 2024

What is the Rummy Game?

Rummy is a highly popular card game in India, which can be enjoyed online as well. It's a very entertaining game that you can play with your family members at home.

This game requires skill and strategy; not only do you have to manage your own cards, but you also need to keep an eye on the cards of your opponent.

Rummy can be played by two or more players and is typically played on a table. The objective of the game is to arrange your cards in a certain order before all other players. Once your cards are arranged in the required sequence, you reveal your cards to all players and win the game.

Many companies host the Rummy game. Although the basic rules of playing Rummy remain the same, the way it's hosted and the benefits offered to the players can vary from company to company.

Popular Types of Rummy

Points Rummy: In this game, a value is predetermined. The winner gets the money lost by the other players. For instance, if each point has a value of 5 Rs and the remaining players lose by 20,30,40,25,35 points respectively, then the winner gets a total of 750 rupees.

Deals Rummy: This game has an interesting rule. The player who loses gets another chance to beat their opponent by more points than they lost. The goal is to defeat the opponent 3 times in 3 deals or 2 times in 2 deals. Whoever achieves 0 points first becomes the winner. Then the remaining points of the losing players are counted.

Pool Rummy (101 Points 201 Points): This type of Rummy is very popular and is played in two ways. In both games, the player with the least points wins. According to the rules, a player who scores 101 or 201 points is eliminated from the competition. The win or loss will depend on whether you are playing 101 points or 201 points Rummy.

Note: In Rummy games, sometimes the cards can be so bad that it doesn't make sense to play. Therefore, if it seems like you won't win, you can drop your game, meaning you can accept defeat.

Here's how to play the Rummy Game :

Step-1. Online rummy is played with two decks of 53 cards and two jokers. If two players are playing, a toss determines who will play first.

Step-2. Each player is dealt 13 cards in Rummy, which can be arranged in any order. These 13 cards need to be arranged into pure sequences, impure sequences, and sets.

Step-3. There's a 'Sort' button in the game. Clicking it automatically arranges your cards in an orderly manner. If any sequence or set is possible, it will automatically arrange itself after clicking the 'Sort' button.

Step-4. To win the game, you must have at least one pure sequence.

Step-5. After dealing the cards, the remaining deck is placed on the table, known as the closed deck.

Step-6. During the game, each player picks a card from the closed deck to make a sequence or set and discards one of their cards onto the open deck.

Step-7. Remember to discard the card that is not required (i.e., the card that doesn't contribute to any sequence or set)

Step-8. Once you discard a card, your turn ends. Then it's the next player's turn, and they repeat the same process.

Step-9. If you believe a card discarded by another player can help form your sequence or set, you can pick that card from the open deck.

Step-10. The game ends when a player forms 3 or 4 groups of pure sequences, impure sequences, and sets first, shows their cards by clicking the 'Show' button, and wins the rummy game.
