A subgenre of strategic and casual video games, time management games concentrate on allocating resources quickly and in the right order to achieve predetermined goals. Tycoon games and other business simulation games, in which the player must run a business by gathering resources and choosing how to use them in a timely manner, are frequently similar to games of this kind. In order to receive the maximum reward, the player frequently has to respond to requests that come in while they are playing and serve them as efficiently as possible. Time constraints often apply to objectives and reward scenarios, and the player's capacity to fulfill requests quickly is constrained by the resources at their disposal. Two well-liked titles in the genre are Tapper and Diner Dash.A standard time management game consists of a series of levels where the player is given objectives and time constraints to complete. Usually, a level's objective is to finish enough sub-goals in the allotted time. In a level, the player assigns actors priorities (or immediate tasks) to fulfill sub-goals that occur and can be depicted (e.g., as customers in need of assistance or landing planes). In certain games, actors may be queued for a series of actions in order. The actors will then carry out the tasks in the order that the player specifies, at their own pace. Typically, a sub-goal is unsuccessful if the action is carried out too late.
As the game goes on, the player's responses get more frequent.Though there are rare exceptions, most time management games place the player in the role of a service worker (e.g., waiter or cook at a restaurant, airport dispatcher, office manager)[4].The classic time management game is Tapper, an arcade game from 1983 in which the player takes on the role of a bartender and has to serve customers before their patience runs out.[1] Subsequent games tend to include more tasks, much like the popular 2004 game Diner Dash[1][5][3], which had players doing everything from serving customers to cleaning dishes.[6] A few more time management games are Flight Control, Delicious, and Airport Mania.
