How to make the most from your Engineering College?

First of all, I would like to appreciate your decision to join an engineering college. Engineering isn’t just a degree; it is a period that defines your life. It shapes you; it nurtures you; it develops you as a professional person. It is a 4-year course, or else might be more than that for some of you. These four years, you have to utilize to the maximum and properly groom yourself, and yes, you have to be unique from all others who are with you. Degree or Graduation is just the first battle that you have won. While getting a dream job is the most difficult task for which you have to make the most from these four years, of course. I will be discussing some of the points below, which you should definitely take care of.

1. Have an open mindset and willingness to learn. It will really prove to be helpful in your whole life. And it will help you to grow.

2. You have got to be updated with the latest news and current affairs. So, develop a habit of reading a newspaper or digital news at any time you want.

3. It will take you one year to get known of your campus. There are many events, training, workshops that are held all year round. And yes, you have to participate in most of them. It will develop your skills and help you to find a passion that you are eagerly waiting for.

4. Percentage and grades don’t matter. Believe ME. It doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t study and fail regularly. During the four years, what you have to develop the most is your PRACTICAL knowledge. BE PRACTICAL. GET YOUR HANDS DIRTY. If you are from mechanical start disassembling your Bike in your very first year. If you are from IT, start writing codes.

5. Try to master the basic concepts. You won’t find a single topic in your course as something new. The study evolves from the basics. You have to concentrate more on the basics, and you can attempt and able to answer any technical question thrown at you.

6. Try to keep utilizing all your time doing something. If you are not fond of watching Web series, movies, reading books till now. I bet you will surely start during your two months of your degree. And yes, this is compulsory, I would suggest. It refreshes you and helps you to get information and content which are not bookish. Watching English movies (with English Audio) in your free time is something I would suggest you do. I would roughly say that,

First Year: Understand your campus. Get to know each aspect of it. Make accounts of what events, workshops, training are organized. Make contacts with your seniors. Choose a proper friend circle.

Second Year: Attend workshops, training, and start doing practical work. If your college has an innovation lab, where all technical work and research are done, start spending time there. Participate in every event and enjoy your college fest too. It will help you to develop your skills and build your resume.

Third Year: Work in some company as an intern. Yes, do internships in your respective field. Try to get as much exposure to industries. Decide your Final Year project. The project should be able to solve some social problems.

Final Year: Work Rigorously on your Final Year project. Build something innovative. Get ready for the jobs and interviews. Basic skills and concepts should be refreshed.
