How to Make Money on YouTube in 2022

I know a lot of creators make it their goal to make all their money with YouTube ads, and it's not the most sustainable. Now, I would say that this is not the best approach. But that's why I want to tell you eight more ways to make money from your YouTube channel. let's get it.

1. YouTube Ads

The first and most popular way you can make money with your YouTube channel is with YouTube ads. This is when Google pays you for views on your video because they're placing ads on your video. You can make money directly from Google by uploading videos, which makes YouTube a very special platform for that reason.

2. Paid Membership

And the second way that you can actually use your YouTube channel to make money is by doing paid memberships. Now, YouTube has actually implemented this ability that you can actually have a community of people that pay you on a monthly basis for your content, and you create a sub-community. Now, this isn't the only way you can do it, 'cause you can use things like Patreon, or even private Facebook groups and things like that. But one way you can actually monetize your YouTube channel is by having a paid community. And you can give exclusive content there, maybe long-form content, maybe do Q and A in that community. But all that to say, this is a very smart way to go deeper with your audience and be able to monetize your YouTube following.

3. Sponsorships

Now, the third way is with brand deals and sponsorships. Now, this is a really cool way to make money with your YouTube channel because you can get paid before you make the videos. Oftentimes, with YouTube ads or paid memberships, you gotta, like, crank out videos, and then you're getting paid for the views and the influence, right? But with brand deals, you can get paid by a company, or maybe it's a software-based company, or maybe it's sponsorship with a travel agency if you do travel vlogs and things like that. But you can get really creative and make videos around specific products or even tutorials. Sometimes it's an ad read where you have to talk for 30 seconds about a company, software, or a product.

Another way is an integrated way of using a product or service, and this is when we do a video on a big idea, but in that video, we are actually showing how to use something that could benefit you.  You can get really creative with using brands and sponsors, but it really is one of the best ways to actually monetize your YouTube channel. Speaking of brand deals and sponsorships,

4. Online Course

Number four is actually sponsored by Thinkific, and that is online courses. You can actually sell your knowledge and package it in an online course format. And what's crazy, is Forbes actually said that by 2025, the online e-learning industry will be a billion-dollar-a-day industry, which is wild. But what's really cool about Thinkific is its one of the best places you can actually host your course, and it's really easy to use and set up. It's very easy, Thinkific is to use. And if you want to try Thinkific out for yourself for free, check it out by going to CreateWithThink.com. And just to be straight up with you, You can try Thinkific today for free by going to CreateWithThink.com.

5. Creating Digital Product

And the next way you can monetize your YouTube channel is by creating digital products. Now, digital products are exactly what it is, they are digital. So you could sell something that actually doesn't require any shipping or handling and things like that. And so, some things you can actually create are things like downloadable PDFs. And so, if you have a cooking channel, you can make something like a recipe downloadable PDF. If you have photography presets to sell, people can implement them into their photography.

You can also make e-books as well, and sell e-books from your YouTube channel. And these are just awesome ways to actually monetize your YouTube channel, simply because there is no handling involved. Just offer the product, have the buy button on your website, and you can actually exchange that for money, and actually monetize your YouTube channel that way.

6. Personal Events

Now, the next way you can monetize your channel is actually by doing live-in personal events. Now, it doesn't have to be this gnarly conference. It could literally be workshops. It could be meetups. But being able to meet people in person is another extension of your channel, and you can actually charge for it.

7. Affiliate Marketing

The next one I want to encourage you with is affiliate marketing. This is actually seen when you sign up for a company's affiliate program, where you actually lead people to buy things on their website, and you actually get a cut from that. You do review tech products and send them to Amazon to check out that product. And if you buy anything on Amazon within 24 hours, you actually get a cut of that sale. And so, when you really start creating YouTube videos that lead people to other affiliate links, you can really see how it can actually compound over time.

There are so many different types of companies that actually have affiliate programs, and you can find them by Googling them or going deeper on their websites to see if they even offer an affiliate program. But really, I would say there's a lot more than you think of that are out there. So do that research. Before you make the video on that one product you want to recommend, see if they will actually have an affiliate program around that product. Or if it's an affiliate program with a bigger company, like Target or Walmart, nonetheless, do your research so that you can actually make a cut from the sale as you sell products on your YouTube channel.

8. Consulting

The next way you can monetize your YouTube channel is with coaching and consulting. What's so cool about YouTube is no one's giving you permission, or you don't have to ask for permission to post videos. But if YOU KNOW something, if you are more knowledgeable in a subject, in an industry, or a niche, and you start delivering content on a consistent basis, what actually happens is you begin to become the authority in that niche because you are the one on the internet that is speaking into it and educating, or what have you. And so, oftentimes, you will place yourself in a position where people want to learn from you directly.

And you can offer services in the form of coaching and consulting, which could be very lucrative, although maybe not so scalable, like selling an online course, but nonetheless, you can actually, if offering at all, you can actually make that a premium service that you offer. Or if you are just starting out, just offer to coach and consult, because a lot of the times, if you can get some bookings in that light, then you can actually learn the pain points of people who want to work from you, and then you can actually create a course around those pain points, and then scale your knowledge that way. But coaching and consulting is a great way to monetize your YouTube channel.

You can actually sell your own merch. And what's so cool about doing this is you're actually getting your branding on people, which is pretty powerful. If you have a logo that's recognizable, or maybe you have a slogan or a term that you kind of go with. But selling your own merch could be pretty powerful,

because number one, you can sell it yourself and create your own clothing line, and make as much money as possible that way, or you could do it and use a third-party vendor that actually fulfills the order for you, and will only fulfill it when the order gets made, so you're not stuck with all this merch in your garage, and then you were having to ship 'em out. So it could really be a cool streamlined way to actually monetize your YouTube channels by offering that merch. And wearing it in videos is definitely gonna increase the desire for people to want to connect with you, and having merch is one way to do that as well.

And the next tip is repurposed content. If you have longer-form videos on your YouTube channel, let's just say, three to 12 minutes long or even longer, you can actually make smaller videos from your YouTube videos and upload them to places like YouTube and create YouTube Shorts, or you can upload them to Instagram and create Reels, or upload them to TikTok and create TikToks out of your long-form content. And this is just a smart strategy to start implementing because you're not doing all that much extra work when filming.

Just creating short-form content from your longer videos can actually help you monetize your YouTube channel because now, Instagram is paying you for Reels, TikTok is also paying creators, and YouTube now has the Shorts funds, so they are paying creators to actually upload short-form content.
