How To Become Freelancer in 5 Steps

Today will tell about five simple steps to become a freelancer. If you've been thinking about becoming freelancing then these five steps are for you to become a freelancer work, they're proven, and they're really simple to follow. So let's dive right in.

1. First Check Pros and Cons

The first one is to decide if freelancing is right for you, freelancing isn't for the faint of heart at the same time, it's actually a lot easier than you might think. So think about all the pros and cons of freelancing. And if it's something that you can take on, you can do freelancing when you are working in a full-time job and you can make it work. or on the weekends. But it should be something you really wanted to do. So you will find a way. So the first step is to decide if freelancing is right for you.

2. Choose Service

The second step is to choose a specific service. This is something kind of learned the hard way, which is you can't be a generalist. I mean you can, but you'll be a lot more effective if you decide what the specific services that you want to offer, maybe you like to write. So offer blog writing services, or maybe you're really good at direct response writing. And you can take on emails for people. Trust me, plenty of people will pay you to write their emails for them. And I'm not just talking about regular correspondence. I'm talking about drip campaigns, marketing campaigns, follow-up emails, and there's a lot to do just there or think about other writing skills that you have. Maybe you want to write a book, and you can do that as a ghostwriter for someone, these are all considered freelance services, and it all starts with deciding that you want to be a freelancer and ultimately choosing a specific service that you're going to start with. You can always expand your services later, but you have to have one simple, straightforward, clear service that you're offering.

3. Create Your Brand

The third step is really creating your brand. So think about yourself not only as an individual but, what are the services you're going to offer and how can you position them in the market as a legitimate business. This means taking some time to think of a business name, maybe putting up a simple one-page website or not, maybe it's creating a little brochure or a handout or something that really encapsulates what you're offering and who it is that's offering it. So once you've decided if freelancing is right for you, you've focused on a specific service. You've started to create your brand.

4. Promote Your Service

Now the fourth step is to actually promote your service. This means is share with others, what you're doing now, some of you who may be working full or part-time say, well, I can't do that because I don't want my employer to know. And what I would say is start with friends and family, maybe send an "email" to your friends and family and say, look, in addition to the work that I'm doing, I'm going to start freelancing. I'm going to start basically offering my services and creating value for people who are looking for XYZ.

And that could be anything. If you're a photographer, as a hobby, maybe that's your freelance service, and you're going to do graduation photos, or you're going to do wedding photos. You're going to do something in addition to what you're already doing, but you need to tell people about it. So think about strategically based on your limitations, who can you communicate with and how can you communicate to them?

5. Create Value

The fifth and final step to becoming a freelancer is to simply create value. So focus on what's on your plate. And I like to say that because oftentimes we get easily distracted. At the end of the day, you need to create value for the people you're servicing. If you have one client, make sure that you're on top of that client, that they're getting in return for what they're paying you 10 times the value, related to the cost. And when you do, what will happen is they will refer you to the next person who refers you to the next person or people so on and so on, and that will quickly grow your business.
