How the Apple Watch 6 blood oxygen app helps me monitor my health every day

When I was an avid gymnast and an active jogger, my health gradually declined amid the turmoil of the Covid-19 epidemic.

Not in Covid-19 in particular, but in the extinction of the immune system and other conditions that cause severe inflammation. Why do you have one endless complaint when you have two, right?

With so many things now that need to be recognized by both medical professionals and me alike, things have changed dramatically in my daily life. In the usual way of a professional journalist, I found a silver line in the Apple Watch Series 6 that made me feel better mentally, if not physically.

I never thought about my blood so much. It works, so I never asked for it. It turns out that it now works much better than before. With high platelets, low oxygen levels in the blood due to poor iron stores, and other symptoms of inflammation, my blood slows down a bit. That means fatigue, high heart rate, and too much worry about my blood sticking to the rest.

There was talk of blood thinners. I am successfully escorting them right now, but anyone who has seen me embark on a 'great' adventure not far away will tell you how quickly I am out of breath. It's sad. I hope things will improve now. I know what the problem is, and I have a drug plan in place, but at the moment, everything needs to be carefully monitored so that nothing worse happens along the way.

Regular blood tests can monitor things, of course, but how easy is that when you need to wait for results? Similarly, ECGs are good for checking your heart and many other tests but also, that doesn't help much at home.

Finally, it would help if you had peace of mind. The feeling that you are still in control, even if that control is small now.

  • Peace of mind on your wrist

Reading on the Apple Watch Series 6, I realized that it could be a solution. I already had an old Apple Watch 4, but the 6 looks experimental. Promising the ability to measure your blood oxygen levels while looking at all the other things you may need, how can I resist? After all, I was going through a terrible time, so my desire to treat retailers was very high again.
The Apple Watch 6 isn’t the only clock to offer blood oxygen tracking, though. The wide range of Garmin offers the same, and I tested the Forerunner model.

But, in the end, the beauty of the Apple Watch 6 tempted me. Apple has already changed everything. It looked good. Looks like it's something I can wear on my wrist all day, and feel like I had a good piece of fashion to show off and a kind of helpful medical help. Even more so, when I look at the strings, I can add to the existing setup.
There is little value that explains how accurate the Apple Watch 6 is in tracking blood oxygen levels. The important thing to note is that Apple itself indicates that it is not intended for medical use. That makes sense. Like a device facing the wrist, it has a big problem.

Unlike the oximeter pulse - a more traditional method after descriptive blood tests - it does not use your fingers to monitor your blood oxygen. In excess, the blood does not clot evenly on your arm as it does on your hands. The pulse oximeter is the best option here because it sticks to your finger, close to immediately reporting your oxygen levels in the blood and your heartbeat.
That's why I have one of those. Also, it is not as simple as the watch you wear all day.
I spent the last week thinking about comparing oximeter readings with my Apple Watch reading, and it is the same. The difference here is that I need to take my oximeter with my power to my destination while the Apple Watch is just in my hand at all times.

  • Feeling familiar with the clock.

Too much, an oximeter can make me feel like a victim.  Looking after your mental health at a time like this is also important.
There is no Apple Watch or oximeter like real medical devices, of course. It is important that you check with your doctor regularly and that you do whatever they recommend. However, a surprisingly strong peace of mind that makes ‘normal’ days feel easier.

Effectively, right now, my body needs a separate booklet, so it helps to see where I am. And of course, the Apple Watch is willing to let me know if anything looks too high, so I know it's time to go home or take a break.
It may not be perfect, but if it makes me feel more comfortable, it may help others heal. I hope one day it will even be able to monitor other runs too. Probably just.
