how shreyas iyer complaint of stiff back and grow pain, likely miss last three tests

Due to an injury, Indian middle-order batsman Shreyas Iyer may miss the final three Test matches against England.

According to information obtained by The Indian Express, Iyer has complained of back stiffness and groin soreness when playing forward defense, raising questions about his ability to participate. More so, considering that Iyer's equipment was sent to his Mumbai house, while the playing kits for the complete squad for the second Test were flown straight from Vizag to Rajkot, the location of the third Test, which starts on February 15.

The India team for the next five matches of the thrillingly poised 1-1 series will probably be announced on Friday by the Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee.

Iyer, according to sources, will be taken to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore for more testing, but by the time the Indian Premier League kicks off next month, the batter intends to be back playing competitive cricket. Iyer had surgery last year after suffering a back problem.

According to a source who spoke to The Indian Express, "Iyer has informed the Indian team management and the medical staff that his back gets stiff after playing more than 30 balls and he feels pain in his groin while playing forward defense." He has been told to take it easy for a few weeks as this is a first for him after surgery. Later, he would go to NCA.

The selection committee will have to decide who will play in his stead if he is unable to play because KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja, who were injured in the previous Test, are anticipated to play in the Rajkot Test. It will be intriguing to watch if Rajat Patidar, who made his debut in Vizag, is given another chance in such a situation.

Virat Kohli, the previous captain, was supposed to be chosen by the selection committee on Thursday, but they opted to wait a day to make sure he would be available.
