How do Mountains grow ?

Where the plates of the Earth's crust crash into each other, land is pushed upwards, forming mountains, the Himalayas are the tallest mountains on Earth and the youngest. They started over the last 145 million years, as India crashed into Asia. Mountains are also formed when volcanoes erupt, and molten rock builds up into steep mounds.

Four Famous Peaks:

Kilimanjaro Tanzania: The tallest mountain that is not part of a mountain range.

Mount Fuji, Japan: The tallest mountain in Japan, also a sacred site.

Matterhorn Switzerland: It's not the tallest mountain in the Alps, but it has a classic pyramid-shaped peak.

K2 Pakistan and China: The world's second-highest mountain. It is said to be the thickest mountain to climb.

The Mountain Zones

As you climb up a mountain, the average air temperature drops by about one °C (1.8°F) for every 200 m (650ft). There is also less oxygen in the air the higher you go. As a result, mountains can be divided into distinct habitat zones.

The top: High mountain peaks are harsh environments, of either bare rock or snow, where little if anything will grow.

High altitude: Above the tree line, only species, such as Alpine ibex, can survive.

Mid altitude: Foothills are often covered by forests, but these end at " tree lines," too cold and dry for trees to grow.

Five Crazy Mountain Sports:

Paragliding: Leap off a mountain harnessed to a fabric wing and soar down on the wind; it's probably the nearest you can get to flying.

Heliskiing: For the ultimate off-trail skiing, take a helicopter to the top of an isolated peak, jump off, and head downhill.

Canyoning: To scramble down a mountain along the path of a river, you need to be a confident climber and swimmer.

Ice climbing: This is the sport of hacking your way up a steep wall of ice, such as a mountain icefall or frozen waterfall, using ice axes.

Climbing: There are many ways up a mountain, and some people choose the route up vertical faces and overhanging rocks.

Avalanches Facts:

You rarely get avalanches( masses of snow rushing down mountains) where the slope is less than 25 degrees.

Slab avalanches are the most deadly and occur when a frozen slab of ice on the surface of the snow breaks off.

When the snow gets heavy because it's saturated with water, you get what's known as an isothermal avalanche.

As an avalanche shoots down the slope, it collects more snow. If it picks up lots of air with the snow, it becomes what's called a powder snow avalanche. These are the most significant avalanches and can reach speeds of 300 kph (190 mph).

The tallest mountain in every continent:
Asia: Mount Everest, Nepal, and China
South America: Aconcagua, Argentina
North America: Mount McKinley, USA
Africa: Mount Kilimanjaro, Tanzania
Europe: Mount El' brus, Russia
Antartica: Vinson Massif
Australia: Puncak Jaya, New Guinea.

The Himalayas are the most extensive mountain range on Earth, with the most prominent peaks in the world.  These include Everest and K2 (northern region of Pakistan).  To understand the wildness of its cliffs, it is enough to compare the height of Aconcagua, the highest peak outside of the Andes in South America.
The Himalayas are a vital mountain range on the Asian continent.  This mountain range separates the Indian subcontinent from the Tibetan plate.  The Himalayas are the main reason for the geographical and cultural diversity of the Indian subcontinent.  The name Himalayas means 'home of snow.'
The region is considered one of the most diverse in the world due to its rich diversity of wildlife.  According to the locals, there are still undecided creatures like Yati.  Global warming and climbers are thought to be damaging the environment.
