How Dieting And Diabetes?

Very few people realize the significant effect weight we have on sugar. Even the incidence of gestational diabetes is much higher in obese patients than in unhealthy ones. Type 2 diabetes, or diabetes that starts in adults is more common in obese people than those in their ‘appropriate’ weight categories. In fact, about 90 percent of those with Type 2 diabetes are overweight. If you have Type 2 diabetes, the best gift you can give yourself may be a gift to control your weight.

For those with type 2 diabetes, about 40% have high blood pressure, which is another condition believed to be exacerbated by overweight. Obesity can lead to a condition known as insulin resistance where the body no longer responds to the insulin needed to help the body utilize sugar and glucose as fuel at the cellular level.

There are other things you can do to help yourself if you have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes or have been reported to be at risk for this serious condition. First, remove the pounds. I know this is easier said than done. Eating is not easy and is rarely pleasant for the average person. However, if you do not begin to take the necessary steps to achieve a better life, you may not be able to enjoy the quality of life that you have planned for your golden years. Let your situation be your motive and make plans to enjoy watching your grandchildren and great-grandchildren graduate from college.

Fight standing. Don't sit back and let diabetes control you. Stand up and control your body back. This is a battle to the end and if you let it, diabetes will be your end. If you are struggling to stand up, lose weight, get out of there and exercise, obey your doctor's instructions and follow them. Find the strength within you to fight this disease directly. You will be amazed at what happens when you decide to stand up and fight for your life.

Get started. Find activities you like and get out there and do it. Do not turn those activities into tasks for repetition. Even if you just go out and play shuffleboard every day go out and play. Enjoy your time in the sun. Choose flowers and little ones. Take a golf course. Do whatever it takes to get up and move daily to remember why you wanted to live forever.

Be careful what you eat. Trash in, trash out, right? You have strict dietary requirements if you have been diagnosed with diabetes. This means you have to strictly follow your dietary restrictions. Learn to live within those limits so that you can live and enjoy life to the fullest extent possible. Surprisingly, there are all kinds of foods available that are friendly to those with diabetes that were not available a few years ago. You are more likely to live and eat well with diabetes if you stick to your plan. The most important thing about a diabetic diet is that you do not lose sight of how important it is to do so.
