How Attitude Is Important In Our Life.

Attitude is one of the important factors in life. Everything depends upon your attitude whether you are going for a walk, attending a cousin's birthday party, spending time with your family members every single thing is based on attitude. How you think about others, How others think about you, here attitude really matters.

William James said that-

"The greatest discovery of my generation is that human beings can alter their lives by altering their attitudes of mind"

The meaning of the above quote is that by changing our attitude we can do anything in life, we can change our behavior by changing our attitude, or even we can change other's attitudes towards us by changing our attitude towards them.

When a person gets a job or a promotion, 85% of the time it is because of his attitude, 15% of the time because of intelligence and knowledge of specific facts and figures. So we can conclude that 70% of things that happen in your life is because of your attitude towards your work.

I have some questions for you, Can an executive be a good executive without a good attitude? Can a student be a good student without a good attitude? 

The answer to the above questions is no.

When our attitude is right, we realize that we are walking on acres and acres of diamonds. Opportunity is always under our feet. We don't have to go anywhere. All we need to do is recognize it.

We always compare ourselves with others which is not a good thing because every person has his own capabilities and has some unique things which are rare to be found. So we should focus on ourselves, not on others(The grass always looks greener on the other side).

Opportunity only knocks once

The next one may be better or worse, but never the same one. That is why it is so crucial to make the right decision at right time. The right decision at the wrong time becomes a wrong decision.

To a positive thinker, attitude can be a stepping-stone to success. To a negative thinker, it can be a stumbling block.

Human nature generally resists change. Change is uncomfortable. Regardless of its positive or negative effect, change can often be stressful. Sometimes we get so comfortable with our negativity that even when the change is for the better, we don't want to accept it. We stay with the negative.

If your attitude is negative, your life is restricted. Your success at work will be limited. You will have fewer friends. Your employment in life will be less. 

How to build and maintain a positive attitude

  • Become aware of the principles that built a positive attitude.
  • Desire to be positive.
  • Cultivate the disciplines and dedication to practice those principles.

Steps To Change Our Attitude

    1.Change Focus, Look For The Positive. You need to focus on the positive in your life. Start looking for right in a person or situation instead of looking for what is wrong. What is your focus? Search for the gold. If you are looking for what is wrong with people or with things, you will find many faults. What we are looking for? Gold or Dirt? Even in paradise, fault finders will find faults. Most people find what they are looking for. So you have to concentrate on positive things and ignore the negative ones. 

    2.Make a Habit of doing it Now.  We all have procrastinated at some time in our life. Procrastination leads to a negative attitude. The habit of procrastination fatigues you more than the effort it takes to do it. If you want to build a positive attitude, get into the habit of living in the present and doing it now. If we utilize our present to its fullest, we are sowing the seeds for a better future. If you want to build a positive attitude, learn the phrase, "do it now" and stop the habit of procrastination.

    3.Learn To Like The Things That Need To Be Done. Start by doing what is necessary, then what is possible, and suddenly you are doing the impossible. Some things need to be done whether we like them or not. Example- mother caring for their young. This may not always be fun, and may even be painful. But if we learn to like the task, the impossible becomes possible.

    4.Start Your Day With Something Positive. Read or listen to something positive first thing in the morning. Something positive means we can start our day by listening to some motivating songs or we can do exercise like yoga in the morning to freshen up.

I like to say that "Believe me, working to build a positive attitude will be worth enduring the temporary stress and uncertainty of change"
