Google cancels its annual Google I / O 2020 event for the coronavirus

Another international event cancelled by the coronavirus? The technological world and the videogame sector are reeling from the new outbreak of the coronavirus, and Google is added to the cancellation of events. And, the Google I / O 2020 has just been cancelled.

When we talk about major cancellations of events, we have to look at the Mobile World Congress. Last week we should have been talking about the news of communications and mobile phones and, nevertheless, we had to "settle" with private company events after the absence of the Barcelona fair.

In the videogames sector, the GDC has been postponed, there are companies that have stopped going to the PAX this month and the ESA (organizers of the Electronic Entertainment Expo) say that the E3 2020 continues, but they have an eye on in the coronavirus outbreak.

Google I / O is the most important event for the North American company. It is what they use as a framework to announce the new versions of Android and, in recent years, the features of their Pixel phones.

As we read in AndroidPolice, Google has sent an email to those who had registered for the event stating that they will return 100% of the ticket price on March 13.

You may be wondering why an event held in May is cancelled now. The answer is simple: money. These types of events cost a lot of money and, although Google plays "at home" in the I / O, it is clear that the organization is not cheap.

It remains to be seen how we will know the news of Google, since there will be no face-to-face event, but they should have streaming as the different companies that have cancelled events in recent weeks have done.

Now, it only remains to see what happens with the WWDC 2020, the great event for developers that Apple celebrates for the same dates as the Google I / O ... and that may be at risk by COVID-19.
