GLOBE AND MAP CATCHING POINTS

                globe and map

  • Our Earth is not a perfect sphere
  • It is slightly flattened at the North and South poles
  • Its shape is spheroid
  • The form of the Earth is best shown with the help of a globe
  • The globe is it, three perfect dimensional models of the Earth,
  • It shows its spherical shape as well as flat and North and South poles.
  • The globe can be rotated on its axis in an inclined position as the Earth does in space
  • It is an exact model of Earth
  • It was the correct shape
  • Which shows the correct area
  • It shows the correct direction
  • It shows the correct distance
  • But it is expensive compared to maps
  • in the globe, only half of that can be seen at a time
  • Globe scan show the whole Earth only
  • No world can be made for one continent or a country like maps
  • MAPS
  • A map is worth more than a thousand words
  • Hence geographers and students of geography use maps for showing a large amount of geographical information
  • It has been rightly said geographers need maps they make maps and use maps
  • Plan Can be defined as it is the representation of the Earth or a part of it drawn to scale on a flat surface
  • Generally, all routes are used mainly for locating places
  • Maps tell us where the sites and how to get it from any other location within the
  • Maps tell about landforms
  • Maps guide about roads
  • Maps tell about railways
  • Maps guide about canals
  • Maps show us about the distribution of crops and industries
  • Maps CE is useful for all walks of people.
  • They are useful for students
  • They are helpful for teachers
  • They are helpful for administrators
  • They are helpful for planners
  • They are useful for travelers
  • They are helpful for tourists
  • They are helpful for industrialists
  • They are helpful for defense personals and so on
  • latitude is the part of the map, which are horizontal lines drawn on a globe or a plan. These lines run from west to east.these lines run parallel to each other also hence they are called parallels of latitude. Latitudes are measured in degrees North or South of the equator.
  • Maps also have longitude that is vertical lines drawn on a globe or a plan. They ran from north to south, and they are measured in degrees east or west of prime meridian, which runs through Greenwich London. Extremities east or west of the prime meridian are labeled E or W up to 180-degree .the prime meridian divides the Earth into a Western hemisphere and Eastern hemisphere.
  • The network of parallels of latitude and meridians of longitude is called a grid, which is the part of the map. The grid helps to locate places on the map.
  • There are three major types of maps
  • Physical maps, political maps, and thematic maps
  • physical maps mainly show physical features such as mountains, plains, plateaus, rivers lakes and so on...
  • Political maps show international, national, state and district boundaries and major roads and railways, major cities and towns.
  • Thematic maps are prepared to show a particular theme or topic suggest distribution of minerals, crops, industries, roads, railways rainfall, temperature, and so on.
  • This is small pointwise information about the globe and map, which is useful for the students.
