Global Warming

In the midst of posturing, the lobbying and the media hype, global warming is hurting now especially in the pacific, where many of the World's tiniest nations live on fragile atolls and small islands.

Sometimes scientists still deny the reality of global warming- but it is difficult position to sustain after last year's 3000 page report from the United Nations Organisation (UNO).

Intergovernmental Panel on Climate ChangeĀ  (IpCC: IPCC) scientist estimate that the planet's average temperature will rise by 1.4 to 5.8 degrees are sharply reduced. This would represent the fastest planetary warming in 10 millennia, wreaking havoc on delicate ecosystems and raising sea levels by around one metre.

The heat is no:

While the effect will be felt in tiny nations and fragile ecologies most quickly, it is clear that he consequences of unchecked glob al warming will reach every corner of the world - there will be nowther to hide, Climate change could mean"

* More frequent and potentially more sever droughts through a combination of higher average temperature, reduced average rain-fall and greater variability of rainfall.

*Vulnerable regions will become more prone to flooding and erosion.

* New problems arise for farming, including changes in pest and diseases profiles, changes in soil fertility and water availability and the suitability of some crops to some areas.

Extreme weather patterns spread, including droutht, cyclones, tropical, stroms floods.

* Poor countries will be deeply affected, leading to huge numbers of refuges, distrous crop failures, and extrema weather.

* The sea level rises globally possibly by up to one metre by 2100. As a polar ice caps and glaciers melt, they could drawn lowlying islands and coastal lands, flood river deltas, man grove forests and coastal vegetation, and displace millions of people.

We should think for the future what will we give to our generations so, please be alert and save the planet.
