Flattery and Manipulation in Workplace

Earning one's bread and butter requires him or her to engage in any sort of income related work enterpreneurship, business and trade, freelencing, acting, brokering and many more. to be specific many of the fresh graduates around the world eye at bagging a job to support their life. And obviously, any types of jobs are meant basically for money in exchange of survice of the employees as assigned by their employers. Be it a public or private organization, government or private company, everywhere a certain hierarchy comes boss-ship. To utter surprise, many are seen to be busy in buttering boss with a hope of getting things in their favor. We are pokey regarding the sudden acceleration of the price of onions these days, but none of us seem to be worried about the price-spiraling of oil and stuffs used for oiling the bosses to get a high seat in the table or get a promotion or some other extra benefits as weapons of manipulation.

 
The most common from of manipulation comes packaged in the from of flattery. The deceptive nature of flattery is that it becomes most powerful when it is served to those who thirst for it. The lazy, the power hungry, the greedy, the gravy-trainers, the psychopaths and sociopaths all understand that flattery is not harmless. Quite to the contray, these people believe in the old saying ''flattery will get you everywhere''. They know that flattery has the power to influence corrupt, undermine and deceive. It is important to understand that praise and flattery.''Praise'' is the experience of sincere appreciation that paves a door to make a report with people one mingles. But ''flattery'' does not come from a place of truth, honesty or relevancy. It is an expression of excessive and insincere praise. Flattery raises questions about the flatterer's personality and professionalism. Socrates said, ''Think not those faithful who praise thy words and actions but those who kindly reprove thy faults''. Keeping this saying in mind, we should focus on our performance. As at the end of the day, performativity in the only means that upholds one high or degrades one to the bottom. Being colleagues means co-workers. Obviously, there should be a place for matual respect, understanding, friendliness, co-operation and so on. These are the pillars to promote brotherhood and team spirit among the co-workers of a company. This very spirit kindles the propensity of the organization.
 
So, we all must be sincere and honest to one onother in our dealing and behabior. Added to this is, efforts and hard work will be the ordeals for the high ranked officials to evaluate their suvordinates and colleagues, otherwise, a day will come when the value of merit and performance will be treated as a long gone past.
