This story of a man who had faced many problems by winning a lottery.
Once a day the narrotor bought a lottery. The lottery prizes are :-a road engine,sewing mechine and cameras. On one evening they drew a ticket number 1005, and narrator happened to own the other half of ticket. Glancing down the list of articles they decleared that the narrotor became the owner of road engine.
The narrator wins the road engine in a lottery at the gimkhana grounds of maludity town. Every one congratulates him. But how to take it back home is a big problem to the narrator. So he decided to leave it on gimakhana ground. He left that engine for a few days,not knowing what to do with it. He recieved a notice from the municipality ordering that the engine should at once be removed from the ground as other wise they would charge rent for the occupation of the gimkhana grounds. After deep thought he consented to pay the rent. And he paid 10 rupees a month for the next three months.
After some months the narrator decided to remove the road engine. He hires a temple elephant and fifty coolies to remove the road engine. This leads him to many troubles and causes him various expenses. He is sad and disappointed. Later a swamijee comes to the town to perform various yogic feats. He claims the he can let a road engine run over his chest. The narrator is happy to lend the engine for the feat. Suddenly the magistrate's order stop the show. The narrator is upset and decided to leave the town.
Meanwhile an earth quake shakes the area. The engine falls into a disused well and fits like a cork. The owner of the well is happy because the well with dirty water is closed free of charge. He thanks the narrator and pays him a good amount.
Thus nature comes to the rescue of narrator and relieves him of all his troubles caused by the road engine.
