The fact that Furies' conclusion essentially sets up Season 2 should not come as a surprise at this point, should Netflix decide to order more of the French action series. Let's break it down: there are a few surprises in Episode 8 as well as a fair bit of closure for some of the storylines and character arcs that have grown over Season 1.
A framing method is used in Furies' ending, very reminiscent of Episode 5. Selma is seen explaining the events of the last episode to someone off-screen. We'll address this again at the very end.
How do Lyna and Selma deactivate the mine?
The majority of the climax occurs on board the mine, the highly guarded covert train that acts as Olympus's mobile bank vault. While Fixer and Mud Man attempt to locate the location where Driss's men are stealing the loot using the tracker that Fixer previously placed on Lyna's phone, the Furies must battle their way through the locomotive, eliminating waves of goons.

Elie and Orso must cooperate in order to locate a safe location to halt the train, which is carrying a bomb, while everything else is going on. Eventually, inside an abandoned station, they manage to stop it. Lyna pursues Selma while she struggles to disarm the explosives.Driss, firing at him while he runs away. She fires a bullet, without realizing that she's done it.
How does Driss pass away?
Driss has been shot dead by Lyna, but Selma takes care of his last moments at his own wish. In his last moments, Driss wishes to pass away away from Lyna's grasp so that she won't have to bear the shame of having slain her father. Although Selma has every right to murder Driss and has repeatedly refrained from doing so since he is still her brother, she reluctantly complies in order to save Lyna and move Driss aside.
What is the secret of Selma?
Selma comes revealed to have multiple motivations for killing Driss. We find out that Selma, not him, killed Kahina's family in a psychotic manner after discovering she was an undercover police officer. She made it her mission to cover up her failure by also accusing her brother, because she was ashamed as Fury to have allowed a cop to get so close to the Olympus.

The only person living who is aware of this is Driss; she is the final loose end. Thus, even if she is absolving Lyna of any responsibility by killing Driss, she would have needed to kill him in order to conceal the truth.
Will Lyna choose Elie or Orso in the end?
Furies Season 1 has shown Lyna's romantic life on repeat. In the epilogue, she makes the decision to be without Elie and Orso, but revealingly, it is Elie to whom she bids farewell, suggesting that Orso was only a passing fling and Elie her true love.
Fortunately, Elie and Orso make an effort to improve their relationship; at the end, they're at least a little more friendly, if not true friends.
How is Season 1 of Furies concluded?
We learn at the conclusion of the season that Selma has been communicating with the Olympus Godfathers who are still alive. She discovers they are all dead, though, as she moves on.
Agents of Damocles appear out of nowhere. Now that the mercenary organization has taken control of the Olympus, Selma and Lyna are employed by them.
