COVID19-PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE

While sitting in the fast-moving life with increased gravity towards the earning and entertainment, suddenly, one feels helpless and succumbs to the disease unknown to him/her, and then the infection spreads with breakneck speed. And whole world map changes with the picture of COVID-19-simply locking the world people inside the homes. No one ever thought of this unknown monster, that it would emerge and engulf the surface of the earth with insecurity and uncertainty. It has restricted life to standstill-the unimaginable thing for many human beings.   Did we know before its occurrence? Absolutely NO. Let's find out the COVID-19 disease.

COVID-19   is the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 and belongs to the family of coronavirus(CoV). Coronaviruses are transmitted from animals to people, with this particular strain of coronavirus thought to have originated from a seafood market in the city of Wuhan in China in December 2019.

Common symptoms of COVID-19 are fever, coughing, and shortness of breath. And continued infection can lead to pneumonia,multi-organ failure, severe acute respiratory syndrome, and even death. The older adults and those with pre-existing chronic health conditions are more vulnerable and have accounted for the majority of deaths from COVID-19.

What we need to do at this critical time is to focus and adhere to the health advisory given by the WHO and government directives(respective countries) to see ourselves and our families protected from the monstrous pandemic. Cooperation and understanding the sensitivity of disease are vital in this crucial time.  Few little steps to prevent the COVID-19 are essential for us all to follow to see our world shinning and healthy.

PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE

DOs

  • Please wash your hands properly for 20 seconds, with soap and water or alcohol-based antimicrobial liquid/gel
  • Protect the nose-the sensitive part of the transmission of disease and cover both nose and mouth with a disposable tissue or flexed elbow during cough or sneeze.
  • Avoid close contact(1 meter of 3 feet) with unwell people.
  • Stay home and self-isolate from others in the household if you feel unwell.
  • Be a leader in keeping yourself, family, and community healthy(the social and moral responsibility of we all).
  • Do not stigmatize or tease or downgrade anyone being sick. Remember virus has no boundaries and is pandemic.

Don't

  • Touch your eyes, nose or mouth if your hands are not adequately washed with the soap or liquid/ gel
  • Touch the infected person and materials without protective kits/gears
  • Go Out unnecessarily
  • Touch the infected/suspected surfaces and objects

Apart from the above preventive measures, there is the need to wear the mask as the protective measure. But wearing the cover is not the ironclad guarantee that you won't get sick or infected by the virus- viruses can also transmit through the eyes and aerosols penetrating the mask. However, covers are an effective protective measure and help in capturing the droplets-the ultimate source of transmission. Wearing the costume is crucial for all, especially health and social care workers.

The saying "prevention is better than the cure" is valid in the case of COVID-19. And prevention has proven to be a useful tool to control the pandemic. It is a fact that there is no vaccine to prevent COVID-19. So the only antidote is the adherence and practice of preventive measures against the COVID-19. Remember, there is no alternative except prevention, and since ages, it had been a reliable solution to all the diseases. More importantly, China has been quite successful in controlling the spread of disease inside its territory by taking preventive measures with full potential.
