Top 10 things that you should know about this Indian festival.

Chatth festival is celebrated by the people of north India, with great pomp and enthusiasm.

This festival is celebrated after 5 days of Diwali. It consists of three tithes, Panchami, Chatth, Saptami. This festival is celebrated by the people of north India. The women from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar usually perform this worship. Due to its great positive impact, puja has become world-famous. This festival is dedicated to Lord Sun.

 1. Panchami tithi.

On the day of Panchami, the women wake up early at midnight and prepare some offerings for God, and after they worship God they eat that food they have prepared, before that they have to brush their teeth with mango sticks and take a bath. As the sun rises, they have to start their fast.

 2. Drinking water is restricted in this puja.

Yes, even drinking of water is restricted for the person who is doing this fast. It is to be noticed that, women have to keep fast of 3 days. This means that they don't have to drink water or eat something while performing this worship for three days.

 3. Worship of Sun God.

This vrat is focused on the worship of lord sun. On the second day of the festival, the women have to give argh,! To the lord sun. Argh,, Means to give offerings to the Lord Surya. The offerings are all the fruits and vegetables, that are used in daily life.

 3. Women prepare the main offering of the puja.

The main offering of this worship is "Thekua". "Thekua" is made up of Wheat flour and sugar. This is the main offering of this worship. Special care is taken for the offering not to be eaten by anybody, before the end of Saptami and before giving final argh,, To lord sun.

 4. Worship of the lakes, ponds, and rivers.

Not, only the lord Sun, but all the elements of nature are to be worshipped on this day. In other words, this festival is to respect and worship all the elements of nature that provide us with the necessary things to live life.

 5. Things that are used as an offering.

Various fruits such as apples, pineapple, orange, lemon, Zaminkand, Banana, sugarcane, guava, papaya. Vegetables are also used for this worship.

Among vegetables, bottle guard, green vegetables, kidney beans,green turmeric, radish are used.

 6. Food is prepared without onions and garlic.

Yes, the food is prepared without onions and garlic during all the 3 days of the festival. And, this food is only prepared for those people who are not doing fast.

 7. Devotional songs.

Women used to sing devotional songs of this festival in regional languages. The songs are too good, even if you don't know the meaning of the song, you continue to hear that song.

 8. Women have to stand in water bodies.

Women, have to stand in the water bodies while giving the Argh,, toward Surya.

 9. Worship of the lord sun during dawn and dusk.

During sunset, Lord sun is worshipped on that day. Women give argh,! during sunset. After that, they move to their homes, and they again visit the ghat to worship the rising sun. They have to visit the ghat before sunrise and they sing songs, and standstill in the water, and pray to the God sun to rise soon.

 10. Women break their fast after sunrise.

When the sun rises, they give argh,, To lord Surya and complete their task. After that, all women apply vermilion on the forehead of each other. Further, they break their fast by eating the main offering and drinking warm water.

Whatever the offerings they have offered to God, is distributed among the peoples. The vegetables that were offered are cooked and eaten.

 This is how the festival is celebrated in India.
