THE HABITAT AND ENVIRONMENT
Sparrows are a type of passerine bird, meaning they are loud, perching birds. Except for Antarctica, they are present on all continents. The two main families of sparrows are known as old world sparrows, found throughout Europe, Asia, and Africa, and new world sparrows, found primarily in North and South America.

Sparrows are gregarious animals that dwell in colonies. They are only found in pairs or family groups during the spring and summer breeding season when they are usually flocking. But in the fall and winter, they are known to combine flocks with other small birds (such as wrens and chickadees) and different types of sparrows.
Usually seeking cover in trees or shrubs, sparrows stay low to the ground when foraging. When feeding, they make a distinct sound that bird observers may identify by hopping with both feet. These birds tend to flutter rather than stay in one spot since they are easily disturbed.

FEEDING
