A short Story of lipstick

When it comes to makeup, image of lipstick first comes in our mind. Without this particular thing makeup is incomplete in spite of applying various substance on our faces.Lipstick is the main part of makeup. It is necessary for actors and actresses for having nice look on screen. This is not only essential for actresses but has become need of common ladies also. 

Human has been using makeup to highlight their various features. This is particularly true in the case of lipstick. 

Gwneth paltrow says

"Beauty to me is about being comfortable in your skin. That, or kick-ass red lipstick. "

Today people  like to wear makeup for enhancing beauty and having charming personality. In ancient civilization makeup was a status symbol, both men and women indulged in applying makeup. 

People from Sumerian civilization can be credited as the earliest users of lipstick. Colors were obtained from natural substances like fruits, henna, clay rust and of course,insects. 

Egyptians are probably  supposed to be the first real lipstick lovers.They derived colors from some other interesting sources such as carming dye that was derived from grounded cochineal insects. 

In Japan also, women applied thick makeup and dark lipstick derived from tar and beeswax. 

The lipstick reappeared during Queen Elizabeth's reign in England. She made popular white skin and red lips.But lipstick remained accessible to actors and prostitutes till about three centuries. 

By 1920s lipstick was necessary for women in daily life. Lipstick drew inspiration from arts, and popular culture and a variety of shades came. 

1990 was the era of simple makeup. People were more conscious about environment and demand for chemical free, natural formulas for lipstick grew. 

Now lots of varieties and colors and formulas for lipstick are available. They are mind blowing. According to a survey, in U. S. A women spend more than 3500 dollars on lipstick in their life time. In recent years lipstick has become need of life for women.
