A Planet of Brightness and Shadow - " Rahu " ( PART 1 )

A Planet of Brightness and Shadow - " Rahu "

According to legend, the gods and demons churned the sea together. Of the fourteen gems found in he sea churning, the nectar was last seen. Vishnu and other gods thought that the goddess of Nectar should only be given to the gods, so that the gods could be immortal. Thus, Lord Vishnu tactfully started giving nectar to th gods. Rahu was a demon. So he took the form of God and got the nectar. Rahu was nurturing the nectar. At the same time, the Sun and the Moon drew the attention of Lord Vishnu. Thus, immediately Vishnu cut off Rahu's head with his chakra. The head and torso fell apart. The head is known as Rahu and the torso is known as Ketu. Rahu did nectarine, but it was still reaching the throat so Rahu's head got immortal. The sun and the moon drew the attention of Rahu versus Vishnu, so today Rahu also consumes the sun-moon from time to time, these are known as solar eclipses and lunar eclipses, respectively.

This story about Rahu is very useful in the context of astrology, because the sun and the moon  in the horoscope, Rahu has the opposite effect on the flanks of the variety. Rahu is the son of Viprachiti and Sinhika. Hence it is also known as Saihikey. Also known as snake, devilish, gloom, agu etc.

Thus, like other planets, Rahu and Ketu are not in material planets, but these are both fabulous points, but in horoscope both Rahu and Ketu are given the same position as the planet and in prediction they are calculated in the same way.

According to " Bruhat Parashara Hora " rahu becomes observant in Virgo. Pisces is its waning zodiac, Rahu becomes higher in Taurus and lower in Scorpio. According to some scholars, Rahu becomes heavenly in Gemini and lining in Sagittarius. In the opinion of some, Rahu becomes the highest in the Gemini and the lowest in the Sagittarius. Rahu always moves at a curved pace and in one zodiac he usually lasts for forty five ( 45 ) days. Thus, it takes Rahu a year and a half or eighteen months to complete the entire zodiac.

We will discuss more about Rahu in next part.
