6 countries where the civilians must enlist in the army

According to a newspaper report published, there have been several vacancies in the Indian Army in recent times, and there is a shortage of workforce. In 2018, there were 9,400 vacancies in our Armed Forces, namely the Indian Army, Indian Air Force, and Indian Navy. The Government of India is considering various ways to fill these vacancies.

According to an NDTV report, senior Indian Army officials are proposing to shorten their tenure so that more civilians can focus on joining the army. Currently, the Indian Army recruits people under the Short Service Commission in the initial period of 10 years, extending up to 14 years. It is also allowed to join the Army for 3 years. Switzerland has ordered all physically fit men to serve in the military, while women can volunteer for a short period of time. Under the law of this country, all men must undergo some period of military training. Men who do not join the military (compared to other citizens) have to pay a 3% higher income tax until 37. The only exceptions under this law are men who are physically disabled.

 Also, Israel is a country whose law requires all men and women (not physically disabled) to serve in the military. Men have to stay in the army for 2 years, 8 months, and women for 2 years. They are then given the option to remain in the army or leave it.
