1 Hurdle To Weight Loss

1 The obstacle to losing weight What is the most challenging aspect of losing weight? Are you giving up your favorite high-calorie food or drink? No, but close. Do you stick to a new type of eating plan? Getting closer. Are you training yourself to live a healthy lifestyle? Warming up. Are you making changes to live healthily? BINGO! In short, CHANGE is the hardest part of losing weight or achieving any new goal.

Today you decide that you will go to night school and get a degree in computer technology. Tomorrow you start ... what do you do? Organize your schedule, rearrange children's programs, make sure the budget supports additional spending, plan study time, prepare for exams ... and so on. Oh yes, and as you do so make sure you have a plan on what you will do with this new title. Do most people have an idea why they jump in, but is it a clear enough idea?

Let's look at obstacle number 1 when it comes to losing weight and reaching our fitness goals. Change. How do we do it to be successful?

First, you make the decision ... obviously. But let's be clear in that decision: let's see how it will look; what will you do; How are you going to live? In other words, a vision has to come with your goal. Let's say your goal is to be 145 pounds. More importantly, create an image for the 145-pound person: Imagine exercising, eating healthy, having more energy, being more productive, getting up early, making a healthy breakfast ... anything and everything that will provide a more image. Clear of the life you will live that you may not live now (otherwise, you would be your ideal weight, right?).

Second, how about following a plan that doesn't completely change your life tomorrow? How about you take things to step by step so you can achieve one small goal at a time and have a much higher chance of continuing that climb without stumbling? Changing your mind is one thing: changing your life is another ... that takes time. Taking on change and mastering it will put you in a position of trust and empowerment that will allow you to tackle the next task. Therefore, your plan is as essential as your clear vision.

Third, be consistent. This will be much easier when you don't have as many changes to implement. It's hard to be consistent when you start eating a pre-planned diet tomorrow that is different from what you've been eating. A little change on the way to significant changes is much easier to digest - don't try to swallow the whole elephant (sorry, I had to throw that there!).

Losing 50 pounds or more is not a goal you are going to gain tomorrow. But if you prepare your mind to win that goal and you see yourself more clearly being that person and doing actions that will provide that level of fitness, then you can be motivated to start moving in that direction.
