Why CSK needs to win this year's IPL?

Chennai Super Kings has always been top contenders in every year's IPL tournament. With MS Dhoni's composure, decision-making ability, and all-round team performances, they have always been a prime contractor for the trophy every season. They have managed to still be the top team every season with some reliable players with the bat and ball and their exceptional fielding, which is a class apart from most other groups.

However, like most of the things in the year 2020, nothing has been smooth, comfortable, or as expected for anyone. CSK surprisingly lost its first two matches. They seem to still have their bowling and fielding abilities in line and on par more or less with their usual team performance, but their batting seems to have taken a severe bump. They haven't figured out their batting lineup or role of each player and how to utilize each player's strength.

They have to figure out their batting order,

mostly where Dhoni bats. Their bowling also needs some extra grit, which hasn't quite been seen yet this season from their lineup. This could be due to a lack of cricket in recent times, and they may be a bit rusty.

Now to the question of why they need to win this year? As we know, MS Dhoni has officially retired from international cricket, and this might as well be his last IPL. His exit hasn't been as smooth as his career was. Despite his accomplishment and all the talent and prowess he has shown over the years as a captain and a player, questions are being raised if he was ever as good as everyone believes.

Everyone who has followed Dhoni's career

knows and believes that he has always been as good. He has more accomplishments as a team captain than most others in the world. He is already a legend of cricket.

But due to his abrupt exit from international cricket, doubters and critics will watch this year's IPL closely to accumulate any opportunity to slam him for any shortcomings.

Also, CSK as a team has faced many ups and downs in recent years. Hence to redeem themselves and especially for Dhoni to shut off the critics and doubters, winning this year's IPL is very important.

If it happens, team CSK and MS Dhoni will go down in cricket's history as an undisputed ultra legend. MS Dhoni gives youngsters priority and chances, but he has to bat up the order when the team needs him. He should not hold back himself because we all know he is one of the game's best finishers.

We know CSK is still as good a team as any, and they can outperform any group on their best day. I hope to see them get their groove back in the rest of the matches. In any case, though, this year's IPL is shaping up to be another cracking and intriguing relief for all the cricketing fans out there in these challenging times due to the pandemic.
