                                 World Health Organization on 11 march has declared the coronavirus outbreak-pandemic.WHO's advice to countries and individuals, however, doesn't change to fight this new virus; there is a great need for countries to take immediate actions and scale up the response to treat, detect and reduce transmission to save people's lives.

As of 13 March, a total of 81 cases of novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) have been reported in India (64 India nationals and 17 foreign nationals; and of the total three were cured, and one death said). So far,cases of COVID-19 have been reported from 13 states as given below:-

  • Delhi (6 cases)
  • Haryana (14 cases)
  • Kerala (19 cases)
  • Rajasthan (3 cases)
  • Telangana (1 cases)
  • Uttar Pradesh (11 cases)
  • Ladakh (3 cases)
  • Tamil Nadu (1 claim)
  • Jammu Kashmir (1 claim)
  • Punjab (1 claim)
  • Karnataka (6 cases)
  • Maharashtra (14 cases)
  • Andhra Pradesh (1 claim)

Death was reported for a 76-year-old male with co-morbidity from Karnataka with a history of travel to Saudi Arabia in February 2020. Hospital isolation of all confirmed cases, tracing, and home quarantine of the contacts are ongoing.

The Prime Minister's Office, Ministry of health & family welfare (MoHFW), and cabinet secretary are closely monitoring the situation COVID-19 invoking power under the disaster management act 2005 to enhance preparedness and containment of the virus. A high-level group of ministers has been constituted to review, monitor, and evaluate the readiness and measures against COVID-19 in the country. The central ministries have taken various steps along with states/UTs in terms of strengthened community surveillance, quarantine facilities, isolation wards, PPEs, trained workforce, rapid response teams for management of COVERS-19.

IMP:-Regularly and thoroughly clean your hands with an alcohol-based hand rub or wash them with soap and water. Always wear a mask on your mouth and keep a 1-meter distance from others; if you saw symptoms like cold, cough, breathing problems, and throat pain, then immediately go to the hospital without touching anywhere.
