What will change from the wall between Mexico and America?

Relations between America and its neighbor Mexico are very old, but now these relations have entered into an era of tension and uncertainty.

Although the connection with each other is not yet completely broken, the relationship has definitely been hurt. On Wednesday, President Donald Trump signed an executive order to build a wall along the US-Mexico border.

After Trump's announcement of this plan, Mexico's President Enrique Peña Nieto has canceled his US tour scheduled on March 31.

The cost of this wall to be borne by Mexico was one of the major promises of Donald Trump's election campaign.

What will change if the wall is erected?

Relationship rift

Cooperation between Mexico and the United States has increased in the last three decades, whether it is in the field of trade or in areas like education. But for the first time, the tension between the two governments is clearly visible.

Soledad Loeza of the Mexico-based Center for International Studies told the BBC that the current environment is not expected to improve soon. Most people of Mexico feel that America is a threat to them and many Americans believe the same. It is difficult to change this feeling.

Refugees will be curbed

The biggest impact of the wall will be that thousands of Mexicans who try to enter America every day will be curbed. However, fencing the border with Mexico is not a new job. About 1050 km of the border has been fenced and it does not pose any risk for immigrants to enter the US.

Impact on business

Mexico sends 80 per cent of its total exports to the United States. There is a trade of about one million dollars per minute between the two countries.

Now that Trump has asked for a 20% tax on goods coming from Mexico, it will be necessary for Mexico to find new relationships for business. At the same time, Trump has also announced to rethink the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).

Risk will increase at the border

By erecting a wall on the border, people will find other options to enter the US and this will also increase the risk of their lives. Since 1995 (ever since the borders of Mexico began to be blocked) about 7000 people have been trying to enter the US.

However, the number of illegally admitted people in Mexico is either constant or decreasing. According to data from the Washington-based Pave Study Center, the number of Mexicans visiting the United States has declined since 2009.

Another thing

Trump threatened the emergency and said he wanted to fulfil his plan to build a wall to prevent illegal immigrants from entering the country. Trump asked Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer to resume partially closed government work. But for this, will they support the move to allocate funds for the border wall in the next 30 days? Trump was angered when Pelosi responded to 'No'.

Annoyed Trump tweeted, "I left the meeting with Chuck and Nancy in between. It was a complete waste of time. I asked that if we resume work, will you approve border security including wall or steel blocker in 30 days? Nancy said no. I said goodbye. Nothing else could be done. '

A new era of political instability has started in the US after Trump left the meeting midway. After Trump left the meeting, Nancy and Schumer told the media that leaders of the Democratic Party were unwilling to allocate funds for the border wall under any circumstances.

He indicated that the party would not change its stand on the matter. Pelosi told reporters after the meeting in the White House situation room that the atmosphere in the meeting room was not good. Schumer said Trump was not heeded and left the meeting.

Earlier, Trump said on Wednesday that imposing a national emergency is the last option, but if the leader of the opposition party does not allocate funds for the border wall, then he can enforce the emergency.

Meanwhile, Trump spoke of the need for real immigration reform in the country, arguing that it was critical to the progress of American companies looking for talented people from around the world. He also talked about bringing a big immigration bill to improve the situation. The US President said, "We want to see real immigration reform in the country because we need it and it will be a good thing."
