What is the Seven Wonders of India?

Introduction

Just as there are seven wonders of the world, one of which is also from our country India, In the same way, our country India also has seven wonders. 

All these wonders are so beautiful that it holds its place in history. All these buildings belong to ancient time and not to the present time.  Ancient times were not so much developed as it is today, yet if we look at the art of that time, then we start thinking now it would have been made. 

Talking about today's technology, it has developed a lot so that we can do any task easily. 

Everyone may know The Seven Wonders of the World, but there are seven wonders among our beloved country India which we will talk about today- 

(1) Tajmahal in Agra

(2) Golden Temple in Punjab

(3) Nalanda in Bihar

(4) Gomateshwar in Karnataka

(5) Khajuraho Temple in Madhya Pradesh 

(6) Konark Sun Temple in Orrisa

(7) Hampi in Karnataka

 

 

Tajmahal

Tajmahal is a beautiful building located in Agra Uttar Pradesh state, which is one of the seven wonders of the world and it is also one of the Seven Wonders of India. Tajmahal was established in the Mughal period by the Mughal emperor Shahjahan in memory of his wife Mumtaz. 

The construction of Tajmahal was started in 1637 and it took a total of 22 years to build and it was completed in 1659. A total of 22000 labourers were engaged in making it. 

Tajmahal is a very beautiful building. This made of white marbles stone. There are gardens around Tajmahal. The river Yamuna flows just behind it. Tourist comes from all over the world to see Tajmahal. 

It is said after constructing the Tajmahal, Shahjahan had all the artisans who built it cut their hands so that no other beautiful building could be built.

The Golden Temple

The Golden Temple is a Sikhism pilgrimage site located in the city of Amritsar in the state of Punjab. Its other name is also Shri Harmandir Sahib. The construction of the Golden Temple started in 1585 and was completed in 1604. This temple was a dream of the third Sikh Guru Amardas but it was built by the fourth Sikh Guru Ramdas Sahib.

This temple is situated in the middle of the pound named Amrit. This pound was built by Guru Ramdas with his hand and the city was Amritsar after this name. 

Golden Temple 

The most important thing about this temple is that there is an arrangement of Langar here so that food is free of cost to the devotees or poor people coming from outside. 

It is said that forty thousand people receive the offering of the Langar every day. 

 

 

Nalanda University

Nalanda University is located in the state of Bihar. It is located 100 km from Patna. Today, it has turned into ruined but its name is still written in the pages of history. 

It was founded during the Gupta period in the fifth century. It used to be a thriving university from 500 to 1200AD. It was founded by Kumargupta, the ruler of the Gupta dynasty. 

Nalanda University

Let me tell you that it was a university as well as a temple. 

It was mainly the centre of Buddhist education. Mahatma Budhha himself came here from the fifth century to the twelfth century. Most of the students studying here were Buddhist students. Ten thousand students and two thousand teachers studying together. 

Bakhtiyal Khilji destroyed it in a turn invasion from 1193 AD. 

 

 

Gomateshwar

It was built in 981 by Chaman Rai, the commander of the Gang dynasty.

Rishabhdev, the first Tirthankara of Jainism had two sons. First was Bharat and second Bahubali. Bharat and Bahubali had their differences with the state. Both of them wanted their sole authority over the state power. There was became 3 war between them in which Bahubali won but he was very sad to see this difference between the brothers and they renounced the entire state power and gave up and took retirement for the attainment of knowledge. 

While doing penance, he attained knowledge and a bell climbed on his body. At last, that idol was built in the relation of Bahubali. 

Gomateshwar

It is also called Gomtesh because of the Gomateshwar statue. The height of this idol is 57 feet and we can see it even from 25 km away. 618 stairs have to be climbed to reach this idol. 

This statue has to be associated with Jainism. 

 

 

Khajuraho Temple

This temple located in the Chhatarpur district of Madhya Pradesh state. Talking about the construction of these temples, these temples were built during the region of the Chandel kingdom. The temples were built by king Chandvarman from 950  to 1050 AD. These temples are famous not only in India but in the whole world.

These temples are built in the Nagara style of architecture. It is not just one temple but more than one temple. It is said that once upon a time, there used to be 85 temples but from time to time were external attacks on these temples and now only 22 of them are left. Earlier these 85 temples were spread over an area of 20 km but now these temples which are left 22 is spread only in the area of 6 km. 

 

 

Konark Sun Temple

The temple is located in the city of Konark, 35 km from Puri in the state of Karnataka. It was built in the tenth century. It is the temple of Lord Surya Dev. The temple has 100  feet high chariot of Lord Surya Dev in which seven horses are seen moving towards the sky. This temple is one of the major temples of Hinduism. But this temple was going on decreasing its beauty with time.

At the beginning of this temple, you will first see a statue of lions and elephants. This temple is also famous by the name of Black Pagoda. 

 

 

Hampi Temple

It is located within the segments of the city of Vijaynagar in northern Karnataka. 

The most special thing about this temple is that almost every architectural image of India is seen in this temple. 

It is said that Lord Rama came here with Laxman Ji in search of mother Sita and visit it. Different type of idol is seen here. Along with this, they will also be seen in the places and stables etc.
