What is Moon Bathing and its Significance on Human Health?

Moonlight Bathing

Moon bath is one of the self-maintenance act which one may follow. Moon bath can embrace our inner desires. Moon bath simply means exposing yourself to moonlight and making your skin absorb the moon light rays.

The moon emits light, which is cooler than the sunlight, which allows us to absorb it for a long period without any concerns about skin damage.

Moon controls the tides in water through its gravitational pull. This is visible from the low tides and high tides occurring in the oceans, seas, and other water bodies.

About more than 60% of the human body is made up of water. Hence, the moon can have an influence on our mind and body. But since our body is not as big as the ocean or sea, this effect is hardly visible or noticeable.

Ancient medicine system of India, Ayurveda says that moon light bathing is highly effective in curing 'pitta dosha.' Pitta dosha refers to the excess heat in the human body. This is due to the cooling effects of the moonlight. Moon bathing is also effective in anxiety and stress relief.

Moon is the second brightest celestial object visible in Earth's sky, of course first being the sun. Moonlight is actually the sunlight itself, but the reflected version is from moon and stars in the sky. Moons surface absorbs the harmful ultraviolet rays from the sunlight while the polarized light is reflected back.

Ayurveda also says that moonlight has several healing properties. Moonlight promotes mental and physical wellness. It also enhances skin tone and helps to regulate body hormones. Moonlight is hormonally beneficial for women. That is it can regularize mensuration and improve fertility in women.

Moonlight can regulate blood pressure as well as can boost vitamin D levels in the body. It is also beneficial for maintaining good eyesight. While moon bathing, your body will feel relaxed and help you overcome your emotional pains.

Moon bathing connects us to the energy of the moon. Observing moon's cool and refreshing light helps to absorb the pure and serene energy of the moon. Looking at the moon has a calming effect on us.

Moon bathing can be practised at any place, wherever moonlight is available, that is may it be your terrace or in the garden. The easiest way of taking a moon bath is to move out of the house and simply take a walk under the moonlight. This also can be done by simply sitting at the window where moonlight can penetrate inside directly on you.

You can also opt for laying down on a blanket under the moonlight. Finally, your skin has to be exposed to the moonlight for atleast 30 to 35 minutes, be it anyhow.

The second way of getting the moon light benefits is by bathing or drinking the moon water. This moon water can be prepared easily.

To prepare moon water, a transparent glass vessel filled with water is kept overnight in the moon light. The vessel should be placed in the right place at which moonlight is falling without any obstruction. Next morning, before sunrise, collect the water. Ensure that sunrays do not fall over it.

This water absorbs positive energy of the moon light thus increasing its power. This water is then consumed to gain this powers. The amount of water can be increased and can be used for bathing or any other purposes.

Moon light is a natural gift from nature to all. Moon bathing doesn't have any negative impact and hence can be practised by anyone.
