What is LTE?
LTE is fullform "Long Term Evolution" so far we have seen 2G, 3G and 4G. However, there is a different case with 4G. Right now the 4G that we are using in our phone. What we mean is that there is no ISP that can give such speed which really defines 4G in the right term. This is the reason that an abbreviation LTE is used to solve this new connectivity which is still much better and efficient than 3G.
4G LTE technology has been greatly advanced in these four years and it is still under development. Meaning there is still a lot of improvement to be done. ISPs have not yet reached a speed that truly defines 4G.
This means if we talk in simple language, then in 4G we still do not get such good speed, which can really define 4G. There is still a lot of implementation to be done. In the future, you can get even better speed in 4G.
What is VoLTE?
The full form of VoLTE is "Voice Over Long Term Evolution" or "Voice Over LTE" can also be named under its name. We can call it the upgraded version of LTE. You must have heard many people saying that 4G does not support voice calling. In this, only we can use the internet.
It must have been heard from people whose phone has LTE support. It is true that the voice calling feature was not implemented in LTE. Perhaps that's why the Jio 4G Voice Calling app downloads those with LTE phones using JIO. To talk with them, their internet should be on.
4G high-quality voice calling has been added to VoLTE. You will get a better voice calling facility in VoLTE. You will get a better voice.
4G also improves the overall coverage area of your phone and it has the ability to make quality voice calls. Being in 4G VoLTE means both your calls and data are in 4G network. But if we talk about LTE, then only the data is in 4G, for the rest of voice calling networks like Airtel, the Idea takes the help of 3G. And Jio since it does not have 3G network, then you have to install an external app in it.
What is the difference between LTE and VoLTE?
There is not much difference between it, there is just a slight difference, which you will see from its full form. LTE's full form "Long Term Evolution" and VoLTE's full form "Voice Over Long Term Evolution" Here you will see that VoLTE has "Vo" ie voice over which makes them different.
If you tell us in ASRAL language, 4G voice calling is implemented in VoLTE and you do not get voice calling in LTE. In LTE, only data is in 4G network but in VoLTE both data and calls are in 4G. Hence, 4G calling feature of good quality with good internet speed will also be available in VoLTE.
Often you must have seen that the LTE user has to download a third-party app to enjoy high-quality voice calling.
In LTE you have to download an external app to make a video call to someone else. But in 4g VoLTE you can make video calls directly to anyone.
It is said that whenever it is possible to call from an LTE network, use 3G or 2G for operator calling. In LTE Smartphone, if you are using an operator like Airtel, Idea, Vodafone then you will not have to download the third-party app. Because these people revert the network to 3G or 2G while calling. But Jio does not have 3G / 2G network, so you have to download the third-party app.
Which is better in LTE and VoLTE?
After reading about both of the above, you must have found out which is the best network among the two. However, if I tell you about it, there is not much difference between these two. The difference is just a little bit.
If we talk in a simple language then in LTE you get 4G only for using the internet but in VoLTE you have both internet and calling in 4G network.
So you must have understood that if you only want to use the internet then LTE can be ok for you. But if you also want good calling quality with the internet, then VoLTE is best for you.
By the way, let me tell you that right now most phones are in VoLTE only. But still, when you buy the phone, make sure to check about it.
