WHAT IS IPV6 ?

internet protocol version 6 (IPV6) is the most recent version of internet protocol (IP), the communication protocol that provides an identification and location system for computers on networks and routes traffic across the internet. IPV6 was developed by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) to deal with long-anticipated problems of IPV4 address exhaustion. IPV6 is extended to replace with IPV4. In December 1998 IPV6 became draft standard for IETF, who subsequently ratified it is an Internet Standard on 14 July 2017

USES OF IPV6 :

In its work the IETF included enhancement to IPV6 compare with IPV4. The IPV6 Protocol can handles packets more efficiently, improve perfomance and increase security. It enables internet service provider to reduce the size of their routing tables by making them more hierarcical.

HOW LONG IPV6 ADDRESS ?

IPV6 Address are  128 bits in lenght and are made up of hexadecimal characters. In IPV4 each, each octet consist on a decimal number ranging from 0 to 255. These numbers are typically separated by periods. 

Many IT people, who are unfamiliar with IPV6 , believe the responsability for IPV6 deployment falls on the network-teams.
