Types of book

Almanac

This is an annual calendar of dates and events. It initially contains astronomical facts and figures but not include useful statistics and other information. Almanac has sometimes spelled almanac.

Anthology

A collection of writings by one author or on a theme, such as an anthology of the animal poems.

Atlas 

A book of maps.

Autobiography 

An account of a person's life written by himself or herself. Sometimes a "ghost " writer may help someone write an autobiography.

Bibliography 

A list of books or sources on a particular subject.

Chronology 

A dictionary of dating events.

Dictionary

An alphabetical list of words and their meanings. There are also a dictionary on and single subject, for example, a dictionary of Arts.

Dictionary of quotation 

A listening of interesting remarks or extract from the writings of famous people.

Directory 

An alphabetical list of names and addresses of people or organizations.

Encyclopedia 

A book of articles on many subjects arranged alphabetically. The reference is often published in many volumes or, today, on CD – ROM for on the Internet.

Gazetteer 

A  book that lists and places (countries, cities, etc.).

Glossary 

A list of words and phrases used in a particular subject area, for instance, a compendium of computer terms.

Language dictionary

A dictionary that gives a translation of words and phrases to and from other languages, for example of French – English / English – French dictionary.

Monograph 

A book on a specialized subject, such as the work of a particular artist.

Novel 

A work of fiction, usually involving imaginary people. A historical story may be about real historical characters.

Novella 

A short work of fiction

Phrasebook 

A book of traveler, which translation words and phrases into and from a foreign language.

Pop-up book 

A book, usually for children, made so that pictures stand up or move when the pages are opened.

Thesaurus 

A book organized to show words with similar meanings.

Travel guide 

A book of information about a particular country or area.

Who's who or biography Kal dictionary

Alphabetical summaries of the life of famous people, living or dead, sometimes by their subject (such as a dictionary of scientist).

Yearbook 

An annual reference book with information about the event of the previous year. Near box contains statistical information about the country is often called Abstracts.

Longest novel 

A science fiction novel by French writer George – Jean Arnaud, La Campagne des Glaces(1980-92), Run 262 volumes and has about 11,000 pages.

Smallest book

Largest book 

The largest-ever book was published in 2003. It is a collection of photographs called Bhutan: A Visual Odyssey Across Kingdom. When opened out, it measures 2.1 into 1.5 meters – almost the size of a table tennis table! It cost dollar 10,000 copies.

Electronic books 

Electronic books, or ebooks, have been around for over 20 years. The earliest once could not store much information and had tiny screens that were difficult to read, such as an electronic Bible (1991) that could display four lines at a time. The latest electronic books are small, light, and hold vast volumes of data that can be downloaded from the Internet.
