5. DESERT SOIL

Formation:

This soil consists of coarse and sand particles. Soil from Rann kutch is deposited in the western dry region by the southwest monsoon.

Compositions:

This soil contains a large amount of soluble salt. In this soil, the Moisture and the humus found in a very low quantity. but, with the help of irrigation, it becomes more fertile.

Suitable for the crops:

This type of soil is generally suitable for the crops like Wheat, Bajra, Sugarcane, Cotton, Jawar, and vegetables, etc.

Area:

Desert soil is generally found in the dry regions especially in western Rajasthan, Gujrat, Southern Punjab, Southern Haryana, and western Uttar Pradesh.

 

4. LATERITE SOIL

Formation:

This soil is formed in the regions that regions which have dry places. it is formed due to the disintegration of laterite rocks.

Compositions:

Laterite soil is very poor in lime, Phosphorus, and potash. but, this soil has a rich quantity of humus.

Types:

Laterite soil is generally found in three types.

(1) . Dark red laterite soil.

(2) . White laterite soil.

(3) . Laterite soil of underground water.

Suitable for the crops:

The laterite soil is very suitable for rice, cotton, cereals, millets, tea, and coffee, etc.

Area:

Laterite soil is mostly found in the lower region and the upper region of Tamil Nadu. it is found in the kurg district of Kerala, Ratnagiri district of Maharashtra, granite hills of West Bengal. 

 

3. RED SOIL

Formation:

this soil is formed by the disintegration of crystalline and metamorphic rocks in a dry and wet climate.

Compositions:

Red soil's fertility is not the same everywhere.it is brown, chocolate, and yellow in color. this soil consists of a large amount of iron, aluminum, and lime. 

Suitable for the crops: 

this soil is suitable for the bajra, wheat, and millets, etc

Area:

Red soil is found from Bundelkhand in Uttar Pradesh to the Southern peninsula and in Madhya Pradesh. it is also found in the area of Jharkhand, West Bengal, Meghalaya, Nagaland, and Tamil Nadu.

 

 2. Balck soil and Regur soil

Formation:

It is dark black in color. this soil is made of finely grained particles. they retain moisture for a long time. 

Compositions:

Black soil is generally deficient in nitrogen, phosphorus, and humus. but, black soil is very rich in potash, lime, magnesium, and iron, etc.

Suitable for the crops:

This soil is very helpful for the cotton plants and the cereals.

Area:

Black soil is generally found in the deficient in Maharashtra, Marathwada, Madhya Pradesh, the Southern part of Orissa, and western areas of Andhra Pradesh.

 

1. Alluvial soil:

Formation:

This soil is made of fine particles that deposit in the delta regions of the rivers after flowing hundreds of Km in thousands of years. 

Compositions:

This soil generally consists of nitrogen, potash. it is very rich in lime. it contains fine sand, clay, and loamy particles.

Suitable for the crops:

This soil is very suitable for the purpose of agriculture. In this soil wheat, maize, tobacco, cotton, jute, oilseeds are grown very easily.

Area:

This soil is found in large areas of our country and also it is very important soil of India. It is found in Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Bihar, West Bengal, and Assam, etc.
