Top 5 Longest Rivers in the World

A river is a natural flow of water, usually pure water, flowing by the sea, ocean, lake, or another river. In this article, I have given a list of the 5 longest rivers in the world and their length and country of origin.

Nile (6853 km)

The Nile River, northeast of Africa, is the main source of water for Egypt and Sudan. The water from the Nile river is used by 11 countries that include Tanzania, Kenya, Egypt, and Sudan. As a result, the Nile is an international river. Uganda, Sudan, Ethiopia, Kenya, and other countries have complained about Egyptian rule in the Nile waters. To promote peaceful co-operation between the two countries, the Nile Basin Initiative was established. The Nile River has two major supporting rivers, the White Nile River and the Blue Nile river. The White Nile is the main source and the Blue Nile is the second source of the Nile River. Most of the historical sites in ancient Egypt are found along the Nile, including Luxor, Aswan, and Giza. The origin of the Nile River was a mystery for so many years.

Amazon (6437 km):

The Amazon River, which flows through South America into the Atlantic, has the largest body of water in the world. In the above sections, in addition to its meeting with Rio Negro, the river is called the Solomoes in Brazil. In Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, and in the rest of the Spanish-speaking world, the river is called the Amazon. The Amazon rain forest is one of the hottest forests in the world in terms of biodiversity. More than a third of all living things live in this vast forest. Interestingly, there are no bridges across the river. That is because most of the river flows through rain forests and not roads or cities.

Yangtze (6300 km)

In China, the Yangtze River is called Chang Jiang (meaning 'long river') or Yangzi. It is the longest river in Asia and the longest river in the world. The source of Yangtze is Geladaindong Peak. The river plays a vital and important role in China's history, culture, and economy. The Yangtze River is the home of the China Alligator and serves as a dividing line between North and South China. The Gorges' Third Dam is the largest hydroelectric power plant in the world. In recent years, however, Yangtze has been plagued by industrial change, agricultural operations, mudslides, and the loss of wetlands and lakes.

Mississippi Missouri (6275 km)

The river flows completely into the US. The Mississippi Missouri River Valley is one of the most productive agricultural regions in the country. It is made of thick layers of riverbank deposits. The source of the river is Lake Itasca. The Mississippi River initially served as a barrier. It forms the borders of New Spain, New France, and the first US. After that, it served as a major transport network and communication link. The name of the River is derived from the origin of the Native American Chippewa's mici zibi, meaning 'big river'. The most famous tributary in Mississippi is Missouri.

Yenisei (5539 km)

The Yenisei River, which flows through Mongolia and Russia, is the largest in the Arctic Ocean. It is also listed as Yenisey. The river is the source of three major Siberian rivers — the other two are Ob and Lena - flowing into the Arctic Ocean. During World War II, Nazi Germany and the Japanese Empire agreed to divide Asia along a line that followed the course of the Yenisan River to the Chinese border, then to the China-Soviet border.

So, these are the top 5 longest rivers in the world.
