1. Materialism: Today most of the societies promote materialism and do not consider the consequences of such thoughts. The success is measured by the stuff or things that you have. This is something that we gain from our childhood. It is natural, a child always demands for material things and especially those he/she sees with his/her friends. The parents always try to complete all their demands within their financial ability. Now, such thoughts of getting more and more material things continue as the children grow into adults. We are far away from the concept of “Earning According to Needs”. We also wish and try to get such things which are not needed hardly or at all. This is the very first problem of youth today for which they sacrifice even their happiness.
2. Difference in education: No one can deny the fact that education is important. It provides you the chance to avail the opportunities for a bright future. But today education has also been classified in types such as good education (quality education) and bad education. For getting good education your financial status matters. If you belong to a rich society then you probably have the chance to be successful in life. On other side, even basic need lack in educational institutes. If you live in a poor neighborhood then you need struggle twice or even trice of rich society institutes.
3. Poverty: Poverty has become a major problem today. It contributes in different social and behavioral problems. There is a defined least salary by the state. But in comparison with today’s needs that is much less. There are people compel to work for a very meagre salary less than defined by the government. The amount poor earns today is just to feed his children. They cannot afford a good school, a tutor and a counsellor for their children. This repeats again and again as their next generation also repeats the same. We can decrease poverty by an easy way i.e. avoid being materialistic. This way we will spent only on such things we need rather than the things we desire. This way we can help the poor for provision of good education by which they can succeed in life.
4. Lack of career counselling: Career counselling is a very hard need of youth. This is something that paves the way to success for them. We can avoid them choosing the wrong career. But the conditions today are so deteriorated. In progressive countries parents manage to call career counsellors home to help their children. As a matter of fact, this is the right of every individual that he/she should be guided in a proper way. By doing so, we will get perfect men in all walks of life.
5. Unemployment: In Pakistan, unemployment has become a leading challenge. This has created hurdles for each individual especially educated youth. The prime reasons of it are lack of proper planning by state, day by day increasing population, lack of career counselling, lack of promotion of technical education and skills. The job market is not capable to replace all the graduates. Hundreds of thousands graduates come to job market per annum. We can fix or at least decrease the problem of unemployment by tackling above-mentioned issues. Among many solutions, skills promotion is most valuable. By focusing skills learning, we can enable the youth to stand on foot by themselves other than being dependent on state.
These, really, are problems of youth today!
