Sree  jagannatha temple is one of the most impressing mouments of the Indian state Odisha, was constructed by king Ananta Varma Chodaganga Deva in 12th century. 

The hight of the Jagannatha temple is 65 meters. 

Puri is famous for the world famous Jagannatha temple and longest Golden beach

TOP 10 MYSTERY OF SREE JAGANNATHA TEMPLE :

1. TEMPLE's FLAG:

Sree Jagannatha temple has a flag like other temple. Every flag floats with the wind. 

But in Sree Jagannatha temple the flag atop the temple strangely always floats in the oposite direction of the wind.  

It brings your scientific reasons to a halt. It proves that there is some force more powerful than science.

2. TEMPLE HAS NO SHADOW : 

Ever Object, building or temple has a shadow but the Jagannatha temple has no shadow. 

It is because of its dome. The temple is built in a very scientific way. Shadow falls in a way that it is not visible to anyone. 

The shadow which falls on the dome is hidden by the structural built of the temple. 

 

 

3. SUDARSHAN CHAKRA:

   Temple has a Chakra (a circular object) Which named as Sudarshan Chakra. 

It is 20ft hight & weight a ton. It is fitted on the top of the temple. But what is interesting about the chakra is that, you can see this chakra from any cornor of puri city. 

You can always feel that the chakra is facing towards you.

4. SOUND OF WAVES :

The temple is situated on sea beach, so it is natural to hear sound of waves. But in Jagannatha temple it doesn't happen. 

If you pass the main gate known as Singhadwar and go inside the temple you will no longer hear the sound of waves as long as you are inside the temple. 

 

 

5. THE SEA MYSTERY :

Usually in coastal areas the wind flows from sea area to land area in day time and from land area to sea area in evening time. 

But in Puri it is totally opposite. It means the wind is always flows from land area to sea area. 

 

 

6. NO BIRDS, NO PLANES FLY ABOVE THE TEMPLE :

 Usually birds fly above the temple and they love to sit on it. 

But in Sree Jagannatha dham you will surprise to know that no Birds and no planes flys above the temple. It still remains a mystery. 

 

 

7. THE MAHAPRASAD :

 Here The Mahaprasad is made in clay pot. And there are so many dishes include. 

Pots are actually used to cook this special delicacy using firewood. 7 pots are placed one on top of onother. 

The fact is that the contents of the topmost pot gets cooked first, followed by the bottom pots.

8.NO WASTAGE OF FOOD: 

Nothing goes wasted in Sree Jagannatha temple. Depending on the day records state that 3,000 to 30,000 people visit the temple daily. 

But the quantity of Mahaprasad, which is cooked in the temple, remains the same throughout the year. 

Yet, the Mahaprasad never get wasted or is insufficient in any given day. 

 

 

9.AN 1800-YEAR-OLD RITUAL : 

Every day a priest climbs atop the temple, which is as tall as 45 story building to change the flag. 

This ritual has been in place for 1800 years. 

It is believed that if this ritual is ever missed the temple will remain close for the next 18 years. 

 

 

10. NABAKALEBARA : 

In every 12 years the idols of Lord Jagannatha  , Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra are replaced by a new set of idols this is known as " NABAKALEBARA".

The last such festival of events was held in 2015.

NABAKALEBARA is a symbolic recreation of the wooden forms of three Hindu deities at jagannatha temple, Puri. 

The event involves installation of new image in the Jagannatha temple and burial of the old ones in the temple premises at "KOILI BAIKUNTHA".
